ran WMMmm mm PHONE 385-8729 LUTHER LEAGUE Luther League Plans Events Fifty members of the Luther league or youth group at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, enjoyed a bowling outing Sunday. The excursion was one of fifteen events planned by the group for the next six months. On March 24 at 6:30 p.m. the League has planned a "Silly Supper" for its membership. A highly misleading menu with strange names is presented at a silly supper, with each item on the menu being assigned a special number. Those par ticipating choose items from the menu which also contains the silverware as one of the numbered items. The four- course meal is served exactly as it is ordered by the par ticipant and each course must be eaten before the next course is served. Since the names on the menu are totally misleading, many order their dessert for an appetizer. Some participants have been known to order their silverware only for the last course, but that is what makes a "silly supper" really silly The members of the Luther league are encouraged to register for the event at the church on Sunday. The officers for the group include . Lowell Kivley, president; Jeff Damiani, vice- president; Felicia York, secretary and Jeff Haddick, treasurer. The sponsors for the league include Earl and Lynette Trier, Larry and Lynn Lund, Steve Missman, Robert and Jane Lewis, and Harold and Shirley Kivley. The ad visors for the group are Intern Don Thurn and Pastor Roger Schneider. Girl Scout Court Of Award Recognizes Many Mayor Joseph Stanek congratualtes Mary Price and Tammie Kieschke on their acievements at the Court of Award ceremony held by Cadette Troop 41 Tuesday. March 12. A Court of Award ceremony is held twice a year to honor Scouts receiving badges and completing Challenges. There are four Challenges a Cadette must complete to earn First class, the highest award in Girl Scouting. Each Challenge tests a Cadette's performance in a real life situation. There are the Challenges of Social Dependability, of Emergency Preparedness, of Active Citizenship and of the Girl Scout Promise. Tammie Bieschke has completed all of these and needs only one more badge to be awarded First class. Tuesday night she was presented her badges for Language and Games Leader which brought her total to sixteen Junior and nine Cadette badges. Mary Price was hostess for the evening and planned the ceremony as part of her Challenge of Social Depen dability. Mary has earned forty-three Junior badges and two Cadette, receiving her Games Leader badge at the Court of Awards.
