EASTER EGG HUNT HUGE SUCCESS The Easter bunny, having been rescheduled from that snowy Palm Sunday, arrived on Saturday, April 13, to plant his candy filled eggs for the children of Holiday Hills. The kids delighted at the prospect of all that candy and they scooped up carefully hidden booty in under 20 minutes. There were several prize winning eggs. The winner of special prizes for these eggs were, in the 1 to 3 year old category, Eddie Wegener, finding the silver egg. We have not been able to locate the child who found the gold egg in this age group, so we still have the prize waiting to be claimed. In the 4-6 year old class, Buffy Catanzaro found the gold egg and Maureen Connell found the silver one. Mark Drew was fortunate enough to find both the gold and silver eggs in the 7- 9 year old age group. Finally, Sabrina Budasi discovered the gold egg and Troy Karafa the silver in the 10-12 year age group. Congratulations to all the lucky winners and we hope all the children enjoyed themselves. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Happy first anniversary wishes to one of our new residents, Kitty and Don Hill. The Hills reside on Bittersweet. They celebrate their anniversary on April 28. Congratulations, Kitty and Don, warm wishes for many, many more to come. STOLEN MOTORCYCLE RECOVERED It may have been a thousand to one chance that a friend of Terry Priko's discovered their missing motorcycle. Nine months earlier the cycle had been stolen from their residence in Antioch. One of Terry's friends noticed a similar motorcycle. He alerted Terry and Terry requested that the police check serial number against their report. Luckily for the Prikos it turned out to be the missing cycle and it was still in one piece. If you notice two people buzzing around the subdivision with big smiles on their faces, it'll be Coleen and Terry making up for lost time. WOMEN'S CLUB MEETING NOTES On April 10, the Holiday Hills Women's Club held its monthly meeting. Topics for discussion were the May dinner ; revision of the by-laws; and plans to distribute sand on the beach. A committee was formed to review and revise the club's by laws to conform to today's activities. The project is long overdue since the by-laws remain basically unchanged since the club's conception. The committee hopes to have the task completed by September. Members voted to have sand spread on the beach in the near future. A motion was made to contact the Homeowners' Association and discuss the matter so that either organization would not conflict with the other's plans. The president of the Homeowners' Association, John Drew, was contacted and gave his approval to the Women's Club plan. Anyone interested in procuring materials for projects for the planned Christmas bazaar may call Mary Ann Mahon at 385-5955. Thanks to Kitty Hill and Joan Laskowski for providing die goodies for the evening The meeting was concluded by the women designing and fashioning their own "Easter Bonnets". The hats were made from paper plates, grass, ribbons, canqy, and tissue flowers. The winner in the best bonnet category was Mary Ann Mahon, Connie Catanzaro was awarded the prize for the worst bonnet. We all enjoyed modeling our crazy creations. We were honored with the presence of Bev Hill from Elm street Bev is 8 new resident and we hope to see more of her at our social gatherings. HOMEOWNERS' ASSOCIATION NOTES Be on the lookout for flyers announcing a general meeting of the Holiday Hills Homeowners' Association. The meeeting is scheduled for April 29. Try to attend. Visitors Dock At Bridgetown BARBADOS (trip taken by Hugh Kirk) The cruiser did not stop at Grenada as originally planned even though the travelers were near it They were making a change in their government and the visitors found they do it with guns. Much serious trouble was occurring- Instead, they headed to the most easterly island of the West Indies and tied up at the port in Bridgetown on the Island of Barbados. This is an extremely heavily populated island. More than half of it was cultivated and moat of that was sugar cane. Kirk and the others managed to get a few pieces of stalk to munch on as they made the tour of the island There were many little villages on the island. The tourists seemed to discover another one every time they went through another large sugar cane field. Many of than had citrus or bananas growing in their yard along with a great number of very beautiful tropical flowering trees. They found this was a good island for shopping as it was called a free port. Some of the nice carved hardwood statues they brought home came from there. In town Kirk saw a few two- wheeled large carts being pulled by small bum*. Here, too, were more boys waiting to (five into the water to retrieve coins thrown by the visitors. In the fields, natives were busy working all the time. There were no stallers and no overseers. When Kirk inquired about their system, he was told they worked in teams of generally ten. They cut and fill a large truck and divide the profits. Anyone who did not work steadily was dropped by the crew and the man would have to find a new group to take him (or her) in. It seemed like a very good system without any apparent foremen or bosses. They certainly got the work done. Newspapers; Magazines 9 A.M. - 5 P.M.
