The village board approved the rental of six dumpsters to be placed at various locations within the village limits. All residents are asked to place their discarded items in the dumpster to be hauled away for disposal. There will be no raw garbage accepted and all six containers will be supervised as to the type of items placed in them. For example, tree trunks and branches, leaves in bags and tied, old washing machines or dryers, refrigerator with doors removed, old furniture and what have you will be accepted. All items MUST be placed in the containers and not along side. The capacity of the containers will hold loads only level and not heaping. If you arrive at a container that is filled please drive to the next one. BOARD MEETING The regular board of trustee meeting April 25 showed bills being approved as follows: General Fund, $1,410.01; MFT Fund, $2,828.75 and the Road and Bridge Fund, $1,432.88. Also approved was an MFT supplemental in the amount of $3,700 for ditching and shaping roadways. Clerk Lillegard informed the board that the signed contract from Baxter and Woodman had been received. Civil - Defense director for McHenry Shores, William Pinkonsly, Jr., appeared before the board to explain the emergency plan for McHenry Shores and to ask for funds to puchase the necessary equipment in order to implement the plan and to train personnel. Approval was given to implement the emergency plan and to secure prices for the necessary equipment. Road Commissioner Sam Zeimet reported that the rotary cutter had been purchased and is now available to be put into use. Trustee Henderlong reported, on the proposed repair at the bfeach area and it was approved to allow his committee $600 for necessary repair and the purchasing of swings, sand and necessary lumber. Approval OPEN DAILY 11:30 FOR LUNCH & PIZZA K's 4720 W. RTE. 120 was also given for the rental of six dumpsters for clean-up days, scheduled for May 11 and 12. Dr. Johnson of the McHenry County Health Department approached the board in regards to the new animal control ordinance for the county. It was requested that the village work in conjunction with the county in collecting the county fees. The matter will be taken under consideration at a later date. Some fifteen residents attended the meeting and had various questions pertaining to motorcycles, mini bikes permits, fencing, burning and debris from houses under construction. All matters were either settled or would be investigated. It was indeed a pleasure to see the visitors and we welcome more in the future. CONVALESCING AT HOME It is indeed a nice sight to see that Connie Lindwall has returned home after her long stay in the hospital. Our best to her and I know that her friends will be stopping by to see her in a week or so. BLOOD DRAWING Mr. Schopp has asked us to remind our residents that May 5 at the American Legion on Ringwood Road in McHenry there will be a blood bank drawing sponsored by the Kiwanis. The time is from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. BAND WINNERS Our congratulations to the following members of the McHenry Junior high school concert band that won a superior rating and first place at the Junior high school band contest in Villa Park, on April 27. Members from our village are Beth Lexow, clarinetist, Sue Ewald, clarinetist, Jayne Otterson, cornet player, Bonnie Pinkonsly, percussionist, and Robert Moyer, trombonist. In order to qualify for the state finals the concert band took a first place in the regional finals last month. SOCIAL CLUB NEWS, servatioife- k'te ^'{fitting in le trip to Wrigley Field. We one bus almost filled so ft wait too long to call Sande Moyer (385-8646) or Rose Lillegard (385-8500). Cost of trip includes reserved box seats, bus transportation, and a fried chicken box lunch. Don't forget the garage and bake sale going on now at the village hall. Saturday is the last day. We have some lovely items and delicious baked goods. ALL Webers and Accessories In Stock Women's Club Attends District Meet In Wheaton The Lotus Country Women's Club was represented at the Eleventh District meeting of the Illinois . Federation of Women's clubs on April 25. It was held in the auditorium of Loretto Convent in Wheaton. ' Attending the meeting were Pauline Horak, president; Kay Smith, incoming president; Frances Heinemann, correspondence secretary; Eva Freund, recording secretary. District President, Mrs. Dale R. Bloyd presided at the meeting.The meeting was opened with a pledge of allegiance to the flag and group singing of the Women's Club Collect. Intorductions of guests and club hostesses followed, minutes were circulated, financial statement given, and a resume of the executive committee. Mrs. E. C. Greenway, Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs' first Vice President was guest speaker and gave an interesting and inspiring talk on "Crossroads". Reports were given by county chairmen and presidents of all clubs present were introduced. Awards were given those clubs who won for their entries in the following categories: Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Affairs, Public Affairs and the Arts. Junior membership clubs have joined the district. Thefe are eighteen clubs and they have a junior director. Many df the awards were received by them. Election of officers was held and Mrs. E. C. Greenway conducted the installation. I n s t r u c t i o n s a n d information on the state convention being held in Chicago, May 7, 8, and 9 were given by the president. Meeting was adjourned, closing with a prayer. A delicious luncheon was served by the nuns in the convent dining room. CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY Congratulations are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Busch on their firty-ninth weddiig anniversary. Their children and families took them out to dinner to celebrate the occasion. The Busches have eighteen grandchildren and two great-granchildren. Two of the grandchildren were unable to attend, as Terry Walker is in Hawaii and Jean lives in Stevens Point, Wis. Jean is Mrs. Gene Knutson. She and her husband and their two children, who are the great­ grandchildren were not present. CLUB MEETS Those from here who attended a club meeting at the home of Mrs. Arthur Klein in Fox Lake on Thursday night were Mrs. Agnes May and Mrs. Eva Freund. a dessert lunch was served and the evening was spent at cards. Prizes were won by Mrs. Frances Prosser, Mrs. Marie Miller and Mrs. Announce Two U of I County Scholarships Winners of University of Illinois scholarships in McHenry county have been reported to Richard < L. Tazewell, Superintendent of Educational Service Region, who accepted applications for these scholarships last December. Scholarships are available in McHenry county, awarded on the basis of scores made on the ACT examination given April 28, July 21 and Oct. 20, 1973. They exempt the winners from tuition for a period of four years. For McHenry county, the winners this year were Child of a Veteran of World War II, Barbara Burger, and Child of a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Michael A. Smith, both • of Crystal Lake. These scholarships can be used only at the University of Illinois at any of its three c a m p u s e s : U r b a n a - Champaign, Chicago Circle, or the Medical center. Agnes May. The club will meet at the home of Mrs. Mayme Hoffman in May. GIRL TALK - Hie art of gossiping was as much in vogue b> the 1460's as it is today as evidenced by these two young ladies engaged in serious conversation.
