It is a medical self help program, and consists of a course lasting from 5 to 6 weeks. Sgt. Meyers of the Sheriff's department had a movie on cuts and bruises and the treatment of them. Every one or anyone interested in this type of classes from Lakemoor and Lilymoor are invited to come out and learn or refresh your memory on what to do in an emergency. BIRTH OF THE BLUES A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmidt of Lakemoor on April 13 in McHenry hospital at 12 minutes after 11 a.m. The little one was named Charles Stephen, Jr., and he weighed in at 8 lbs. and 2 ozs. He weighed in at 8 lbs. and 812 ozs. The young sir was named Robert Roy. His maternal grandmother is Mrs. Mary Grounau of Chicago and his paternal grandmother is Mrs. S. F. Ratliff of Wadsworth. Congratulations to both sets of parents. It is the first born to both of the couples. May both families have many years of fun and enjoyment with their sons. SURPRISE! If you heard a little raucus on April 27 over in Lilymoor its because my son, Rusty, had a surprise birthday party for a friend from school. The party was for a young ladv from McHenry named Lori Dalby. she was 18 on May 2. She thought she was going to Woodfield but it seems she never made the trip. Also attending the party were: Peggy Borg, Joe Broderick, Fred Campisano, Kevin Doran, JaneEppel, Ann Liptrot, Karen Moe, Pat Nellessen, Noelle Reid, and Kevin Wentzel. All from the McHenry area. It seems everyone had an enjoyable time from 6:30 till 11. BIRTHDAYS Blowing out the candles this coming two weeks are: on the second is Helen Para will make her birthday wish. On the third Linda Blake, Sue Thomas, and Albert F. Kunz will share that date. Then on the sixth Richard Polinski will celebrate another year. On the ninth Pam Zabroski will add 1 more year as will Tracey Jones on the eleventh. Stan Zabroski will notice how much brighter his cake is this year on the twentieth. CONDOLENCES The sympathy of the community goes to Ruth Kroncke by way of this column, due to the death of her mother, Mrs. Margaret Reining. Other than Ruth she is survived by one other daughter, Mrs. Fred (Dorothy) Kroncke of McHenry, also four sons, William also of McHenry, Edward, Jack, and Bob all of Chicago, also one sister Mrs. John Moliter who once resided in Lilymoor but now lives in Chicago. Mrs. Reining had thirty- six grand children, twenty-five great-grand children and three great-great-grand children. Mrs. Reining's husband, William, and a son preceded her in death. Mrs. Reining was 84 years old. Services were held at a Chicago funeral home and she was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie. She lived the last 3 years in the Woodstock Residence Nursing Home and the 8 years prior to that she lived here in Lilymoor with Ruth , and Ruth's husband, Elmer, also now deceased. organize the affair, which is scheduled for sometime in July. Six ladies have become new members of the Beach Gals. They are Phyllis White, Gertrude Walter, Pat Schieb, La Verne Loew, Chris Lawson and Joan Bitterman. The Beach Gals are very happy to have these new members in the group. Following the meeting, refreshments were served, and the gals had a social game hour, complete with extra­ ordinary prizes. The next meeting is Wednesday, June 5, 7:30 p.m. SWIMMING LESSONS The Beach Gals have arranged for swimming lessons to be available this summer for children 3 years of age, and* over. Registration is June 6, at 4706 W. Lake Shore Drive. Lessons will be given by a licensed instructor. Children, aged 6 and under, must be accompanied by a parent during the lesson, who will stay in the water, with the child. This is to insure complete supervision at all times for each child, if the instructor is occupied with someone else. Further information, as to dates, and time schedule, will be published when definitely established. REMINDER Ladies of the Lake meeting will be Thursday, May 9, 8 p.m. at the beach house. McHenry Man Joins Honor Society At NIU A McHenry man was recently initiated into the Eta- Eta chapter of Phil Alpha Theta, an international honor society in history at Northern Illinois university with thirty other students. William M. Eckart of 5215 W. Willow lane, McHenry, was among the honored initiates. Eligibility for undergraduate students included completion of at least 12 hours in history courses with an average of better than "B" and a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 grading scale. Graduate students accepted had a minimum grade point average of at least 3.5 in all graduate history courses and had completed at least one- third of the hours required for the degreee they are seeking.
