Memorial Services Observe Police Week With Open House Tours The McHenry County S h e r i f f ' s d e p a r t m e n t announces plans for observance of National Police week from May 12 through May 18. The Department will hold open house with tours of the department Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14, from the hours of 6 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to tour the department and inspect the new communications and jail facilities. "Working Together to Control Diabetes," to be presented at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, by Lynn Rew, R.N., will enlist the assistance of Isabel Brody, therapeutic dietitian at the hospital. After Mrs. Rew discusses diabetes from the standpoint of causes, symptoms, blood sugar levels and diet, Mrs. Brody will present diet helps. The film, "The Modern Diabetic" will be shown. "Physical Fitness and Weight Control," to. be presented Tuesday by Mrs. Brody, will feature a film of the American Heart association entitled, "Eat to Your Heart's Content." The booklet, Enjoy, Enjoy, will also be distributed. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. The "I Quit" Smoking clinic at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, will be presented by Arthur Adelberg, M.A., staff development director of the hospital and an ex-smoker. The film, "Smoking and You" will be shown. Thursday's program will be "Emergency Care of the Sick and Injured", to be presented at 7:30 p.m. by the hospital's two trauma nurse specialits, Molla Haugen, R.N., and Vivian Johnson, R.N. They will focus on the immediate care which can be given to victims by non-professional persons in a crisis. The film, "Before the Emergency" will be shown. On Friday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. heart problems will be discussed by Martha Joyce, R.N., intensive care-cardiac care nurse at McHenry hospital.
