The pancake breakfast sponsored by the Lakeland Park Boys and Girls Baseball Club and held last Sunday at the community house was a huge success. At one point there was standing room only because the chefs couldn't flip those pancakes fast enough to keep up with the demand. Pancake "flippers" were: Mrs. Kopsell, Vicky Kopsell, Mrs. Alice Sullivan, Broc Olson, Kurt Knaack and Phil Bucaro. Bill Sullivan kept the sausage coming while filling the plates for Barb Bucaro to pass to the waitresses. The very efficient waitresses were: Nancy Sullivan, Mary Mclnerney, and Mary Ann Staley with Tim Widen assisting. Dawn Parisi, Kim Bucaro and Ann Sullivan were the dishwashers who were assisted by some of our very own baseball players. Some players also helped serve coffee, cleaned tables and extras such as sampling the sausage to make sure Bill was frying them just right! SWIMMING LESSONS PLANNED Arrangements have been made once again this year to have Miss Donna Humann as the instructress for the swimming lessons to be held at Herzog (West) Beach. Classes will start on Monday, July 22, and will continue through Friday, August 2. The classes are held Monday through Friday only, and it is required that the beach be closed to everyone except those children taking classes at their proper time. This is necessary to allow the children to learn as much as possible in their allotted time periods. All lessons will be during the morning hours which will be set as soon as Donna has the class schedules lined up. Parents will be notified by telephone as to the hours of their children's lessons. Courses Offered Parents During Catholic Education week, St. John's school fifth graders at Johnsburg taught min-courses to parents. Some of the courses include^. yarn mats, candles, yarn dogs,' paper mache animals and puppets, salt clay, bird feeders and how to use the overhead projector with overlays. Women's Club Enjoys Dinner, Play Outing On Wednesday, May 8, thirty women from Holiday Hills and their guests enjoyed a dinner- play outing at the Shady Lane Playhouse in Marengo. The club plans an annual outing in May to -honor their previous year's officers. Honored at the dinner this year were the 1973 officers; Bonnie Kellen - president; Marge Connell • vice-president; Sharon Kottke - treasurer; Dee Wegener - secretary; Joan Cornwell and Mimi DeWitt • Entertainment Committee; and Pat Hughes and Penny Appleyard - the Ways and Means Committee. A special thanks was accorded Mary Ann Mahon, who unselfishly offers the use of her basement each month for the club's meetings. These gals were Sharon Kottke, Mimi De Witt and Dee Wegener. FLEA MARKET PLANNED The Holiday Hills Women's Club is planning another flea market for this summer. The tentative date for this activity will be June 23. The club's table will be used for the sale of baking goods. As we all hope for a successful day, the women are starting the baking now. Anyone able to donate baked goods is asked to do so as soon as possible. Mrs. Hughes has a freezer which will be used to store the baked goods until the date of the sale. Since items made with chocolate do not retain their freshness, we are unahle to accept these items for freezing. A phone committee is also needed to contact residents in the subdivision for donations. There will be puppets, songs, games, stories, filmstrips, puzzles, punchouts and crafts for every age group.
