Ask Revenue Sharing For Public Safety Use The allocation of $392,336 of general revenue sharing funds to public safety operating and maintenance category was recommended to the McHenry County board last week by the Finance and Salaries committee. This planned expenditure anticipates a revenue sharing payment from the federal government for the fifth entitlement period, July 1,1974, through June 30, 1975. The board is publishing the plan for expending these funds in compliance with the statutory requirement that citizens be informed as to the use of the funds and to encourage their participation in deciding how the money ought to be spent. In the preceding four entitlement periods, McHenry county has received $1,066,632 in revenue sharing funds which were utilized in both operation and maintenance and capital expenditure categories. Capital expenditures included $47,616 Pastor Brings Impressive Record To McHenry Church The congregation of the First United Methodist church has, within the last year, welcomed the Rev. Ralph J. Smith and his wife, Evelyn, to McHenry. The Smiths are natives of Kansas. The Rev. Smith graduated from Kansas State college in Fort Hays, Kas. Later, they came to Illinois where the Rev. Smith entered Garrett Theological seminary and Northwestern university. Besides a theological degree, he holds a M.A. degree in Psychology. The Rev. Smith comes to McHenry with a list of impressive accomplishments behind him. He served as pastor of the Wauconda Federated church from 1946 to 1956. In 1956 he became the founding pastor of Faith United Methodist church in Waukegan. He served as president of the Waukegan Area Council of Churches from 1961-1963. The Rev. Smith founded the Lake County Chaplaincy service which provides a non-sectarian ministry to county institutions such as the Lake County hospital and the Lake county jail and he was instrumental in $32,000 for 1,000 for nservation\ for Public Safety; $32,C Health and $44, Environmental Conservation^ The operation and maintenance category included Public Defender,7 $16,177; Regional Planning, $30,235; Financial Administration, $6,321; Public Safety, $865,370; Environmental Protection, $29,055; Social Services for Aged and Poor, $15,858. Girl Scout News Day camp is coming! A fun in the sun week for Scouts and non-Scouts for only a small charge. This year's Day camp theme is Country and Western, with square dancing, crafts, games, nature studies, singing, hiking and cooking over a campfire just some of the activities offered. Day camp will be held at the Harrison- Be nwell conservation area in Wonder Lake June 10 through 14 and bus transportation will be provided from McHenry. She has taught English at Waukegan high school for the past fifteen years. Presently, Mrs. Smith is president of the Waukegan Educational association.
