Luther League In Bike Hike The Luther league, or youth group, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, has planned a bike hike, picnic, and ball game for Sunday, May 26. The leaguers will meet at the church at 10 a.m. and then bike to Veterans Acres in Crystal Lake, where they will eat a sack lunch and enjoy a ball game. The group will return to the church by 5 p.m. Last Sunday approximately forty members of the youth group at the church led the congregation in both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services. The youth conducted the liturgy, provided special music, and prepared and delivered the sermon for the day. Degree Conferred On McHenry Man, U of W - LaCrosse Chris W. Borchardt, a senior whose home address is 611 W. Lincoln road, McHenry, was among 628 Bachelor's and Master's degree candidates at the sixty-fourth annual spring c o m m e n c e m e n t h e l d Thursday, May 16, at Mitchell hall on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus. The Members of the Luther league have also planned a summer weekend retreat July 26, 27 and 28 at Lutherdale Bible camp, Elkhorn, Wis. The weekend will include discussion groups and presentations as well as many organized activities such as swimming, boating and horseback riding. The total includes 148 in the College of Education, 189 in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, 244 in the College of Arts, Letters and Science and forty-seven in the Graduate college. Beginning next fall, an academic reorganization at UW-La Crosse will change the College of Health, Physical Education and Recreation into a school within the College of Education. The new school of Business administration will Now President Of HT Named Thomas Lyle Martin, Jr., dean of the Institute of Technology at Southern Methodist university, Dallas, Texas, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering, has been elected president of Illinois Institute of Technology. Dr. Martin's election is effective June 1, 1974. In making the announcement at IIT's commencement exercises, Venema said, "Dr. Martin is a man of outstanding abilities. The primary qualifications the university established at the beginning of its search were rigorous and extensive, because IIT's plans for the future demand a president with vision, imagination, and seasoned leadership abilities. Although it has taken us nearly a year to find the right man, I know our patience has been , well rewarded.
