GIRL SCOUTS ACTIVITIES On May 14, the girls in troop 478 toured the county sheriff's department in Woodstock. As it was National Police Week the sheriff's department was open to the public. The girls were given a very interesting and informative guided tour of a modern police department in action. They were shown the communications department, interrogation rooms, how prisoners ai-e processed, a squad car and its equipment, their guide showed them how an identification of a person is determined with only a driver's license number. Marge Connell allowed her driver's license to be used in the experiment and within 15 seconds her height, weight, color of eyes, hair, etc. were flashed back by teletype. Marge even found out that she has no criminal record in Illinois plus the computer is hooked to the FBI computer in Washington, D.C. and she has^t spotless record with them also. What was to be a substitute, trip in place of the Brownie fly- up picnic turned into a most exciting event for the girls. Thanks to Carolyn Stackhouse, Mimi DeWitt, Tillie Williams, and Marge Connell for providing transportation for the girls.
