Market Place Shopping Center HORNSBYS DAILY 9-9 Woodstock.Ill. Route 47 & Country Club Rd. SUNDAY 10-6 Cheer up you Cub fans. At ast you are playing them close. Imagine it! Ron Santo hits two home runs in a game and the Sox lose. With his tremendous speed, one of those was an inside the park homer. Anyone can predict the weather-partly cloudy and probable showers. Looks like the mosquito abatement program will get a real test this year. With all the damp weather, the little devils are putting the bite on us. A1 May, star basektball player at Marian Central, has been named to the Prep All- A m e r i c a n B a s k e t b a l l Yearbook. That puts A1 in position to be selected for national awards. Al, his parents, school, coaches, teammates, and friends can feel very proud of this honor. We add congratulations. Let's not forget that big attraction at McHenry Country Club Friday evening when you will see a real trick shot artist perform. Maybe Busse could take him down in the woods and show him how to play billiards off the trees. It was a short summer. Stores are advertising winter coats and furs for the ladies. George Thompson says that SPORTS EDITOR--I Eddy and (Grace Zender, fromer residents of the Pistakee Bay area, have returned to McHenry to reside after a 15 year absence. Old Timers will remember Eddy as the former owner and driver of the racing boat"HEX". As we always say, people always come back to McHenry where the welcome mat is always out - for nice people. Dick Allen has found the range and is hitting the ball hard for the Whte Sox. Makes us wonder how good he would be if he took spring training. After watching a lot of games lately, we realize that pitching is still the name of the game. Sheer laziness has probably been responsible for more shortcuts, not to mention valuable inventions, than we are ready to admit. Most of us are continually on the lookout, at least subconsciously, for easier ways to perform onerous or routine tasks. An example of imagination spurred on by outright lethargy is contained in the story of an old mountaineer and his wife who were sitting in front of the fireplace one evening just whiling away the time. After a long silence the wife said: "Jed, I think it's raining. Get up and go outside and see." The old mountaineer continued to gaze into the fire for a second, sighed, then said. "Aw, Ma, why don't we jest call in the dog and see if he's wet." -From Bits & Pieces Mike Zeitz certificate. Minor M SOPHOMORES Tony Bentz - Minor M certificate. Harold Brunow - Minor M. Harry won the Sixteen Yard Championship by smashing one hundred targets for his second ever "100 Straight". As a coincidence, it was the second time this was ever done at this club. Harry's 100 straight, plus his score in the Handicap Event enabled him to also garner the High Overall Trophy. At 67, he feels he still has a few good shoots left. His first 100 straight came at age 65. The next registered shoot will be a two-day event, on June 15 & 16. The top prize will be an Ithaca Over-Under trap grade shotgun. Friday is the big day at McHenry Country Club when Paul Hahn, Jr., presents his one hour exhibition at 6:30 p.m. His show consists of a golf clinic, showing the fundamentals of the game and an amazing demonstration of golf trickery. His trick clubs defy description but he hits long drives with unbelievable clubs and unbelievable drives with regular clubs. He is one of the longest hitters in the professional ranks but decided he would rather follow in his father's footsteps and be an exhibition golfer-entertainer than follow the pro circuit. He has thrilled fans, in over twenty countries on all six continents and travels across the United States each year. He hits shots left and right handed with the same club. He sits and kneels to drive and also takes an iron in each hand and lines up ten balls and pounds them down the fairway in rapid succession. His uncanny timing comes from hundreds of hours of practice. He tells the audience just what they have the right to expect for what they put into their own games-and he tells it like it is! His smooth patter gives an hour's entertainment to even non- golfers. He says his biggest thrills come from people coming up to him after his performance and saying, "1 am not a golfer, but I sure enjoyed your show." He believes many people are brought into the game by such exhibitions and has dedicated his life to making people happy on the golf courses of the free world. A large crowd is expected to see this amazing young man today. A NEW KITCHEN NEWH0ME WITHOUT MOVING Refresh Your Home WITH A NEW KITCHEN -FREE ESTIMATES- KEYLINE KITCHENS 4614 W.
