Retirement Party Honors Local Postmaster Our local postmaster, Frank Wiedemann, was honored at a retirement party last week given by McHenry County postmasters in Hebron. At the dinner, Mr. Wiedemann was presented with a plaque given by the group. June Oxtoby and Mary Swearinger, employees of the Ringwood post office, also attended the dinner. PAPERDRIVE The McLakeWood 4-H club members will be manning the collection center for paper this Saturday, June 15, in the shopping center on Highway 120. The young people will greatly appreciate your bringing the bundles of paper to the center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you have paper but have no means of getting it there, call 728-0295. YARD CLEAN-UP Have you noticed how nice the grounds around the church looked this week? Thanks to a lot of hard working people last Saturday, a great deal was done to improve the ^appearance of the landscape. CONGRATULATION GRADUATES It is decision making time for many of our young people in the community - whether to continue on to college or get a permanent job. Whatever you decide, we congratulate you on what you have accomplished and wish you well in whatever your plans for the future may be. KIDDIE GRADUATION There were some small fry who had their "graduation" this past week. Among them were David Zell, Joel Zank, Robbie Miller, Lee Miller, Kelly King, Jennifer Elliott, and Jennifer Bauer. There were a lot of proud moms and dads applauding as their little ones walked up to receive their diplomas. After the ceremony, which included singing, everyone enjoyed a potluck picnic. BACK HOME Your correspondent received a card from Nellie Hepburn saying she would be back home in Ringwood by the time this column appears in print. CELEBRATES FIRST BIRTHDAY It was a very busy Sunday for little Britta Seaborg, daughter . of Harvey and Barb Seaborg, when she celebrated her first birthday complete with cake and all. Among those helping her celebrate this important day were cousins from Gary, Ind., Harvey's brothers, aunt and mother all from Chicago. Barb's.dad and mom were there from Joliet, the William McMillans of Wonder Lake and the Bernie Klapperichs of Whispering Hills. Close 1 neighbors, the John Klapperichs and Paul Walkingtons were also there to wish Britta a big happy birthday. DAWNCERNY FOUR YEARS OLD Last Friday, Dawn had some of her little friends over in the afternoon to help her celebrate. Those attending included Scott and Lee Miller, Garrett Tickner, Micky Adiams, Julie and Sherri O'Leary, Lora and Julie Nelson, and Dawn's brother two-year old Rusty. There were gifts to open and games to play followed by birthday cake. All the children even got to see the baby chicks. Some of the moms who attended for a gabfest with Rita were Carmen Adams, Peggy Tickner and Patti Miller. On Saturday, there , was another party with Dawn's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Goscinski of Mt. Prospect, her great aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Sarnecki of Morton Grove, and aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Kennedy of Mt. Prospect with their children, Diane, Dennis and Tom. VISITOR FROM SOUTH AFRICA Mrs. Jeanette Venter of Petersburg, South Africa, is spending the summer with her sister, Marie Degreef who resides in Wonder Lake. Some of us had the good fortune to meet Jeanette last summer when she was visiting here and welcome the chance to renew her acquaintance. AREA NEWS Patty Christopher and Rich Harrison drove to Appleton last Friday to visit Diane and Gary Linstad. On Saturday, Patty went up to Wausaukee to visit her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Christopher, before returning home on Sunday. BABY SHOWER Sunday afternoon Linda Billikas was honored with a baby shower, given by her sisters Patti, Sue and Pam. "Linda and Bill came from Iowa for brother Tom's graduation. So it was a perfect time to plan a surprise shower for the baby. A nice time was had by all. It sure is hard to keep a secret. We hear that Doris and Walt Low survived another graduation in the family. Tom Low, their youngest, was honored at a party Friday night after graduation at McHenry high. Lots of friends, neighbors and of course relatives from all over were there to help celebrate. The Leonard Ackermans with the Charles Ackermans ' held a graduation dinner for the high school graduates, which numbered three, at the L.C.A. home with friends and relatives from Richmond, Wonder Lake, Woodstock, Johnsburg and Skokie and McHenry. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday wishes this next week to John Skidmore and Randy Bauer on the twenty-secwid and to Brian Ackerman on the twenty-third.
