On the mound Mike Jackson held the Mets to one run in three innings. In the fourth the Mets exploded for seven runs. In that inning Don Bentz hit a grand slam homer and Barry Paulsen who followed hit a one run blast. Paulsen, the Mets' fine pitcher, won his second game which was a one hitter, 8-0. Saturday the Astors pitcher, Russ Oziminski, went up against the Indians' Sean Duffy. The Indians jumped to an early lead led by Jeff Roberts' homerun blast. The Astros, a well coached and fundamental team, never let up and put together 10 runs to the Indians' total of 6. McHenry. Richard B "Dick" Walsh died at the ripe old age of 89 years out in California where he has lived many years. Dick managed some good baseball teams in McHenry way back when some drove to the game with horse and buggy. He brought the Sox and Cub teams out here for exhibition games and people came from miles around to see the action. Dick was not a relative of ours, but we did have an uncle Richard who managed a team way, way back. There wasn't any. such thing as radio or television so fans turned out in great numbers on Sunday to see the local games. The Playday, as always, will feature golf and a buffet dinner in the McHenry Country Club dining room. Guest speakers at the 1974 dinner will be George Kelly, defensive coach at Notre Dame University. Coach Kelly will also be showing films of the 1974 Sugar Bowl game that saw Notre Dame defeat Alabama for the national title. Rick Tally, the popular Sports Editor of Chicago Today, will also be on the rostrum. Rick will be discussing the highlights of covering the "beat" of college and professional sports. The ever-popular "Josh" Brady of WlVS Radio (Crystl Lake) will again be the master of ceremonies. Tee-off times begin at 7:30 A.M. and will continue throughout the day. Reservations are to be made by calling Lou Hartlieb, Play Day Chairman, at Marian: 338-4220. Donation for golf and the buffet dinner will go to the general fund at Marian Central. r FORMAL WEAR RENTAL lor ALL OCCASIONS ® I Sfeuatt . . . M thttHsHWl 1214 N. Green St., McHenry HARVARD 21-23 N.
