S i H Who** »«* «»•» Walt Freund has been fussin' all season about that trade the Sox made to get Ron Santo from the Ctibs. The Sox gave up four young ball players. Steve Stone and Ken Frailing are welcome additions to the Cub pitching staff and both maytlevelop into big winners. Another pitcher, Jim Kremel has passed our close attention. We have no idea how he will develop. But, the Cubs brought Steve Swisher back from the minors when George Mitterwald was injured and the young catcher has caught the fancy of baseball experts. Swisher cut down the first two runners who tried to steal second base and gained respect for his strong right arm. He now looks like the big man in the trade. Santo has been a great player, but hasn't,, hit the way the Sox expected. We hope he finds the groove. Since the Cubs had backed up the truck to haul away their older players and Santo wasn't going to play any place but Chicago, we have wondered from the start if Mr. Wrigley wouldn't have given him his unconditional release. Just wondering. We have to agree with Walt. It looks like the Cubs caught the Sox management with their blinders down. Green Street isn't the same, "Huppy" Smith passed away suddenly. He had a host of friends who will not forget him too soon. "Huppy" had a great interest in all sports and knew his baseball. (He was a White Sox fan). Mona likes our picture with the hat, but wants Wayne Gaylord to take the next one with a White Sox cap on our dome. It was a large group of men who played golf last Sunday at Chapel Hill then met in the Johnsburg Community Club hall to dine and observe the second annual Joe Frett Memorial. Nobody had more friends than Joe - and they won't forget him. LOCAL BOY MAKES GOOD! Many of you know or remember A.L. "Bud" Kosinski, former McHenryite now residing in Fort Myers, Florida. His wife is the former Eunice Marshall and he is a brother-in-law of Mrs. H. Ralph Bennett and Rovena Marshall of our fair city. Local golfers will be interested to know that "Bud" won the Annual President's Cup in tournament play at Florida's Palmetto Pine Country Club. Let the records show he got his start in McHenry.
