SOFTBALL Jerry Bellak's 12" slow pitch softball team from Jerry Phillips 66 won two doubleheaders this past week and are at present in third place Things are really looking good! Bellak and Roy Hoffman homered for the team to help them along. Several games are coming up which I will keep you posted on weekly till the season comes to a halt. MINI LEAGUE COACH Ron Melone who lives on Fairview Lane has been coaching Mini League Baseball this season, and doing a fine job 1 might add! The name of the team he coaches is the Tigers. There are twelve boys dn the team and there are eight teams in that particular league. The season begins in May and will end this month. Good luck to Coach Melone and his Tigers! WEST GERMAN Gunter Gramer of Eastwood Lane recently was visited by his mother, Emma Gramatzki, from Duesseldorf, Germany. Right now Mrs. Gramatzki is in Wisconsin visiting her other son and then plans on returning to Eastwood Manor before returning to West Germany. A nice reunion was had by the entire Gramer family. DOES ANYONE KNOW? In answer to my question of following reply, they have moved up to Wisconsin and their home at present is still up for sale. No one is ill in the family! Good luck to them from Eastwood Manor residents! PICTURES Has anyone recently had their pictures put* in the Plaindealer? If your picture has been in the paper and you are waiting for it to be returned, it would save everyone a lot of time if you would stop by the office and pick it up. It also helps if you know what month that it was in the paper. Don't wait too long! As you can well imagine it is hard to return them all and try and get a paper out etc. etc. GARDENS How is everyone's garden doing this year? Anyone with any helpful hints I could pass on to my readers I would appreciate you giving me a call or dropping me a line, my phone number is at the top of the page and my address is 1409 West Fairview Lane. I myself have a small vegetable garden which is doing pretty good. I used to think it was rather large until I saw some of the other neighbor's. I'm growing tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, dill, chives, peas, and beans, parsley too. A couple things that I have learned is to plant peas early like March, and plant enough of them, it takes all the seeds in a package to make enough for the average family's meal. Parsley doesn't need very much sun and is growing very nice on the side of my house for the past three vears. You can also dry it out cJoodSioUS w PRICES {FFECTIVf, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED THURS , JULY 25 THROUGH SUN , JULY 28, 1974 AT All JEWll STORES IN COOK.
