Alfred Gerich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Gerich of 4717 Winnebago, Wonder Lake. An April 19, 1975, wedding date has been set. MR. AND MRS. SALVATORE PIAZZA Sicily Couple Wed 50 Years Salvatore and Maria Piazza from Sicily have been visiting friends and family here for the iast month and a half. Last Sunday, Mrs. Piazza's sister and two brothers, Jannene Mar sella of McHenry, Sam Visconti of DesPlaines, and Gino Visconti of McHenry, held a surprise party in honor of the couple's fiftieth wedding anniversary at the Joseph Visconti home in Ringwood. About fifty guests gathered to surprise the honored couple as they walked into the house. Centering the buffet table was a beautiful white and gold cake made and decorated by Mrs. Frank Visconti. Maria Visconti and Salvatore Piazza were married Feb. 23, 1924, in Trabia, Sicily. They have two sons and two daughters living in Sicily. Mr. Piazza is still farming and his wife sews garments and does beautiful fancy work which she sells in the market. RETURN FROM TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Otto Mueller of McHenry Shores have returned from a month's trip to West Germany, where Mrs. Mueller had an opportunity to meet members of her husband's family. It was her first trip abroad. Both Mr. and Mrs. Biueller described the country as beautiful and returned with many lasting memories. AMISH ACRES TOUR Aug. 28 is the date set by St. Clara CoutU No. 659, to take a tour to AmlSh Acres. MUSIC WITH ACTION . COLOR, EXCITEMENT Adams-Rieger Vows Recited The Rev. Edmund Petit, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic church, officiated at the marriage last Saturday, July 28, of Mrs. Irene J. Adams of 1st avenue, McHenry, and M*. Paul V. Rieger of Three Oaks road, Cary. Mrs. Adams is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Walsh of the Fox Lake area. Her husband's parents were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rieger of Cary, formerly of McHenry The bride and bridegroom are long time friends, and their mothers were also friends of many years. Mrs. Dorothy Weber was organist for the 2 o'clock nuptial ceremony, for which Mrs. Carolyn Ritthaler was soloist. She sang "Wedding Song" and "Song of Joy". Acolytes were grandsons, Mark Slater of Cary and Daniel Miller of Janesville, Wis.; and readings were given by Miss Jean Slater of Cary, granddaughter of the bridegroom. Mrs. Adams was escorted to the altar by her younger daughter, Mrs. Joyce Ann Savini. She wore a floor length gown of pale yellow, double knit, fashioned with high collar and scrolls of crystal beaded sequins on the bodice and on the deep cuffs of the long sleeves. She wore a double strand of aurora borealis crystals and matching earrings. For sentiment, she wore a family ring, for something blue, carried a lucky penny and a lace trimmed handkerchief from Belgium, a gift of her .sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Bernadine) Murray, of Mundelein. Her cascade bouquet consisted of white carnations, stephanotis, yellow and pink carnations and greenery. Miss Joan Lynn Adams of Chicago was honor attendant for her mother. She wore a floor length gown of kelly green crepe, styled with high neckline and chiffon, butterfly sleeves. Her rhinestone earrings matched the trim on the bodice and she carried daisy pomps with yellow and white carnations in a cascade arrangement. Raymond Miller of Janesville, Wis., son-in-law of the bridegroom served as best man and Clyde Slater of Cary, a grandson of the bridegroom, was usher. A dinner reception at 3:30 for family members was held in Orsolini's in Richmond. Following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and Michigan, the couple will reside in the bride's home in McHenry. Miss Tomlinson 'Plans For State Dairy Contest The Illinois State Dairy Princess contest, sponsored by A-D-A of Illinois, and co- sponsored by the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, will be held at the Vagabond Inn, Rochelle, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 21 and 22. Lynn Tomlinson of McHenry, reigning McHenry County Dairy Princess, will be competing. Daughters of dairymen from throughout Illinois will converge upon Rochelle where next year's Princess will be selected. Lou Ann Frese, the reigning Princess from Liberty, will be the official hostess and Valerie Wilkinson, executive director of the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, is co-ordinating the efforts of those concerned. Among the activities planned is a barbeque, Rochelle community band concert, ice cream social and fireworks display for the evening of Aug. 21. Later in the evening the girls will gather for an informal princess party with Lou Ann Frese. The competition will be open to the public at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The Princess banquet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at which time the next Princess and the alternates will be announced, with Orion Samuelson, WGN radio personality, as emcee. Robert T. Williams, director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, will be guest speaker. A Dixieland fest after the banquet will crown the evening's activities. The state Dairy Princess makes many appearances with her chaperone, representing the dairy industry of Illinois. Some of the requirements to be eligible are that she must have lived on a dairy farm and have a dairy farm background and must be a high school graduate.
