The road through Estes National Park took us around breathtaking curves, looking down, down at small lakes, seeing ice-covered peaks in the distance, and crossing the Continental Divide where the waterways change direction, picnics in the mountains with our daughter, Margaret, who has become a resident of Colorado because of the beauty of the country. Can anyone forget the first glimpse of Mount Rushmore, with the faces of four of our great presidents carved out of the rocky mountainside, seen as one comes to the end of a tunnel? And Brainerd Lake, where we took pictures of our daughter, Maribeth, and her friend, Nancy Harper, in bathing suits standing barefoot in the snow! The wild flowers peeking through the snow, growing courageously along the icy cold rushing streams ~ white, yellow and truly royal purple. Pictures of the Rockies are beautiful, but never can you get the emotional impact that seeing and feeling them brings. Thank you Lord, for all this beauty. NOTICE The above resume was written by Margaret Karas. I think it was beautifully done and would like to let Margaret know she is a great candidate for writing a column such as this. She shows a natural beauty with words and could bring a freshness to reading and a much needed lift to this column. How 'bout it Margaret - ever give it a thought? Dwight E. Pitman has issued the following statement state-wide: "At the time of solicitation the salesman infers that solicitation is being conducted by Illinois state police. Although members of the Illinois state police belong to certain police organizations which are jwthorized to solicit in the name of the organization, the Illinois state police or its members do not at any time solicit for advertising in any publication. I would urge that if the public is contacted by anyone inferring that he is soliciting on behalf of the Illinois state police, that it should be reported to the nearest state police headquarters before agreement to purchase such advertising."
