CALIFORNIA VACATION John and Marcella Kalash -eturned home Aug. 1, after a '.wo week vacation, spent visiting their daughter and son- in-law, Carol and Don Maslowski, and children in Vista, Calif. It's been five years since Mr. and Mrs. Kalash last saw them, and their granddaughters, 8 year old Michele, and 5 year old Cheryl Lynn had grown up quite a lot in that time. The vacation also included sightseeing, as well as trips to Disneyland, Knotts Berry farm and Sea World. The Kalashes went to and from California by train, and enjoyed the ride going, but had to transfer trains a few times on the way back, leaving them a little weary and glad to get home. CONVALESCING Here's hoping Mrs. Carrie Kurth, who's been in Woodstock hospital several times in recent months, will soon be feeling completely well. VERBAL ORCHIDS To local correspondent, Gerry Milbratz, for the super fine job of local reporting she has been doing. It is a very big job to be on the firing line, report every activity for each and every family in the village. The task also calls for attending every meeting, calling about social engagements, weddings, f u n e r a l s , b i r t h d a y s , anniversaries and you name it. Gerry has been doing a tremendous service for the community and it should be recorded in PRINT. The reading public could certainly make her job much easier by simply calling the phone number recorded with her In line ll uui don I sec \ Ol lx name m the Plaindealer and M»' t 'ullnm l.ake News, it's N Ol K laull' $ The a box e article w as written by former columnist for 17 years, with tremendous respect for the staff ol the Plaindealer. including Editor Adele Froehlich. Eve Levesque COMMENTS Though embarrassed by the compliments, couldn't! resist submitting preceding article in its entirety, 'cause it's nice to see something good written about me. As for subject matter concerning news, that's the important part. Eve said it all. Please call me. PROPERTY VANDALISM Complaints have been made by various residents of kids going into their yards and ruining their vegetable gardens. They pull out vegetables and just throw them around the streets. With so much time and effort involved in maintaining a garden, it's disgusting-to hear they're being wrecked, just for kicks. It would be a good idea for parents to explain to their children that trespassing is illegal, and taking other people's food is stealing. Perhaps the kids involved are too young or immature to realize this. BIRTHDAYS Three birthday people today, Aug. 16. They are Lois Parenti, Earl Nelson and Eve Levesque. August 18 is Rhonda Scarbrough's birthday, also Rex Carter. To all, best wishes for a happy birthday. ANNIVERSARIES Happy anniversary to Gene and Lorraine Frost, Aug. 17, and to Frank and Joan Branham, Aug. 20.
