RECIPE By Sarah Anne Sheridan This is a dish which is just r ight for a large crowd since this recipe yields about three quarts . I l ike to add whole toasted almonds and diced canned pineapple to dress i t up. You need only a bowl of r ice and perhaps chow mein noodles for ac companiments. Chop Suey Vi c peanut oil 2 c shredded cooked chicken or pork 1 jar bead molasses 2 car.3 bean sprouts 2 cans water chestnuts 2 cans bamboo shoots 2 small cans sliced mushrooms 4 c diced celery 2 c onion, chopped soy sauce 4 T cornstarch Cook celery and onions in the oil until soft. Drain all cans of vegetables except mushrooms then add all veg etables, chicken or pork, and soy sauce. Add enough chicken stock to cover. Mix together 1/3 to 1/2 jar bead molasses, 4 T cornstarch, and a few drops of cold water. Mix until smooth then add to first mixture and stir. Let this simmer l/i hour. •This also freezes very well. Wonder Lake, died Tuesday night, Aug. 20. in Condell Memorial hospital, Libertyville. He had been a resident of Wonder Lake for twenty-three years. Mr. Yokley was born July 9, 1903, in JericoSprings. Mo., son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel E. Yokley. He was a charter member of Nativity Lutheran church. On July 31, 1926, he was married in Chicago to Dorothy Kranz, who survives. He also leaves one son, Richard O. Yokley of Wonder Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Dolores Falkenthal of Schaumburg; seven granddaughters and one sister, Mrs. Katie Griffin, of Stockton, Mo. The body was scheduled to rest at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwiri, Cooney funeral home after 6 o'clock Thursday night and after 2 p.m. Friday; also at Nativity Lutheran church after 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Services will be offered in the church at 11 o'clock Saturday morning by the Rev. D.V. Charlson. Burial will be in Ringwood cemetery. My hero was the ring-master, a tall, well dressed man with a voice that rose and fell dra matically as he announced the acts and strutted bravely around the three or five-ring circus.
