SEPTEMBER 13, llfo (Three McHenry people, Cathy Bolger, Diane Dimon and Carol Schuh left for a bicycle tour of Holland, Germany, France and England. Here are a few of the highlights as described by Miss Bolger). "After an 8 hour flight on KLM, we arrived in Amsterdam to find that we were expected to assemble our bikes at the airport. After this small chore we moved to the city for two days of sight seeing. Most impressive were the canals and Ann Frank's house, and fpr those ̂ with an interest in art, there were many originals by Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and the Museum of Modern Art "We were soon to find out why Holland is sometimes referred to as the " 'cyclers paradise" as there were bike paths along most roads and the motorists were very considerate of all 'cyclers as we rode 80 miles to Arnhem. "The next day we exchanged our gilden for marks and headed for Germany. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise down the Rhine. It seemed as though there was a castle at every turn. We were in Cologne when Germany won the World Cup soccer (called football here) title. It was exciting to mingle with singing and dancing Germans that night. Before leaving Cologne, I remember getting goose bumps as we walked through the beautiful cathedral there. "We then 'cycled down the Mosel river valley in the direction of Paris. During our three-dav stay in Paris, we took in the Arch of Triumph, walked down the Champs Elysees, marvelled at the Louvre and Notre Dame, went up the Eiffel tower, and visted Montmartre with its assorted artists. "We took a hovercraft (half boat, half plane) across the channel to England. We spent the night in Canterbury. Before leaving for London, we were able to witness a service conducted by the Archbishop "Our stay in London was highlighted by the theater Various members of our group took in such plays as "Hair" "Pygmalion" and Agatha Christie's famous "Mousetrap" no in its twenty-second year. Our visits included St. Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Trafalgar Square, and many beautiful parks which are so common in London It was during our third day in London that a bomb The Board of Education of Johnsburg School District No. 12, McHenry County has changed its regularly scheduled meeting of September 24, 1974 to Sfptf niber 17, 1974 The ' < ' '<> sj will be called to order ai < 30 P.M at the Administrative Office The Annual Budget Hearing will also be held on September 17 1974 at 7:30 P.M. at the Administrative Office.
