' 4 w lJEL Hold Registration For Girls Scouts Of Area The Wonder Lake Girl Scouts of Kachina neighborhood, Sybaquay council, will kick off their new Scout year with a R e g i s t r a t i o n R o u n d - U p Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Wonder Lake Bible church, main floor, from 10 a.m. until noon. In order to assist leaders and service team members to organize troops as accurately as possible, all girls planning to be Girl Scouts this year, whether presently registered or new, should plan to register at the Round-Up Registration will be taken on all levels of Scouting - Brownie, Junior, Cadette and Senior. Leaders and other adult Scout members will be on hand to take registrations, meet girls and parents, and give information on the Scouting program in Wonder Lake. Brownie Scouts, the beginning level of Girl Scouting, includes girls in the first, second, and third grades. The Brownie program introduces the girls to the Scouting ideals and includes such activities as crafts, field trips, cook-outs, nature outings, learning outdoor skills, songs, games and many other projects Junior Scouting is for fourth and fifth grade girls and gives them the opportunity to enjoy a more advanced program of cook-outs and day outings, overnight camping trips, interest group projects such as sewing or cooking or arts and craft projects, badge and awards earnings, sports and social functions. The Cadette program offers a more challenging and working program for the young lady of junior high school age sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Wonder Lake has active Cadette troops which have been busy the past year in monthly service projects, travel and fund raising activities, camping ventures including everything from Day camp to resident camping at Pokonokah Hills in Wisconsin. There will be only one Cadette troop this year and registration is limited to thirty-two girls. Present Cadet tes who recently responded to the re registration letter sent by their leader need not register Saturday All others and any new Cadet tes should plan to register. Kachina neighborhood proudly welcomes its brand new Senior Scout troop Any girl of high school age interested in joining this new Scout troop may register Saturday or contact Mrs. Ronald R (Nancy) Berg or Mrs. Robert (Marion) Eisingat Wonder I^ake. No previous Scouting experience is necessary, and the troop is open to girls from the entire surrounding area as well as Wonder Lake. The troop will meet twice a month, and, in accordance with the modern Senior Scout program, each troop does its own thing, with the Scouts themselves deciding and setting up their own program and course of action This is a great opportunity for any girl who wants to really get involved in the world and people of todav Kachina neighborhood needs more leaders for Brownie and Junior troops. The Scouting program is growing in Wonder Lake, but ffwill suffer a serious set-back if some new leaders are not recruited for the coming year The present number of leaders simply cannot handle the number of girls wanting to be Scouts and still provide the fine Scouting program they have worked to develop. A woman does not have to have a girl in Scouting to be a leader Any interested woman, 21 years or older, who would like to be a part of the growing Scout organization is most welcome to join. Those Harry May, right, president of the Johnsburg Community club, and Don Smith, publicity chairman, inspect the clhVs newly restored tennis court. Funds for the project were raised at last year's Saufen Und Speil Fest, the club's annual celebration. Next Sunday's festivities, to be held on the club grounds, will raise funds which members hope may be used for further recreational facilities. STAF5 PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Proceeds From Celebration For Area Improvements This Sunday, Sept. 15, the Johnsburg Community club will hold its fifty-second anniversary celebration, called "Saufen Und Speil" translated to drinking and fun. This yearly event is one of the main fund raising projects of the club and proceeds are earmarked for various r e c r e a t i o n a l f a c i l i t y improvements for the community. The proceeds from last year's Saufen Und Speil Fest were used to restore the club's tennis court with a new surface, new net. and new fencing. Although just recently completed, it is already proving to be a popular meeting place for tennis fans. Also from last year's proceeds, new picnic tables were added to the grounds, which are widely used by the community for picnics and relaxation Plans for this year's proceeds include additional recreational facilities for the grounds MAKE MARENGO FEDERAL YOUR SAVINGS CENTER Police Tickets Legal Notice The following tickets were issued by the McHenry Police department: Roger P Gates, 1608 Orchard, Wonder Lake, driving while license suspended or revoked.
