Seese, Jr. Takes Bride In Ohio Church The First Baptist church, Newark, Ohio, was the setting for the Aug. 31 wedding of Deborah Jo Lamb of Granville, Ohio and Joseph S. Seese, Jr., of 1680 Mark avenue, Elgin. The father of the bride, the Rev. Ralph K. Lamb, officiated at the 2:30 double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Lamb of 61 Pine Tree drive, Granville, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Seese, Sr., of 3214 S. Woods, McHenry. The church was decorated with candelabra, yellow and white gladioli and daisies. Special music included "O Perfect Love", "Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer". The bride chose a formal wedding gown of bridal satin and lace fashioned with organza sleeves. Her fingertip illusion veil was trimmed with bridal lace. She carried a Bible covered in satin and lace to match her gown. A cascade of white rosebuds and baby's breath trimmed the bible. The bride designed and made her own gown as well as those of her bridesmaids. Julie Lamb attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Harding of Hanna City, 111., and Cheryl Patterson of Alpena, Mich. The attendants wore daisy flocked organza gowns' of peach, lime and yellow designed with full skirts, full sleeves and ruffles at the scoop necklines and skirt hemlines. Tipped white daisies were worn in their hair. Each carried a hand bouquet of daisies tipped to match her dress. The groom's father, Joseph S. Seese, Sr., of McHenry, served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Harold Malley of Elgin and Paul Lamb of Granville, the bride's brother. Master Alan Bretschneider of McHenry, nephew of the groom, served as ring bearer. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Fellowship hall of the church. A family buffet supper was served following the reception at the bride's home by her parents. Upon their return from a wedding trip through southern Ohio and southern Indiana, the newlyweds will make their home in Elgin. The bride is a 1971 graduate of Granville high school and works as a secretary at Judson college, Elgin, where she also attends school. The groom graduated from McHenry high in 1969 and works as a pressman in Elgin while attending Judson college in that city. Guests attending the wedding included relatives and friends from New York, Illinois, Michigan, California, Florida, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Ohio. Patti Brooke, James Vickery Wed Friday The First United Methodist church was the scene of a very quiet wedding Friday night, Sept. 10, when Patti Brooke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.J. McCracken, became the bride of James Vickery, son of Oliver Vickery of Crystal Lake. Rev. Ralph Smith performed the ceremony at 8 p.m. Attending the happy couple were Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Blake, Jr., McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Vickery will make their home in McHenry. Many articles have already been completed as Mrs. Roy Miller, Garden club bazaar chairman, has had her committees busily engaged all summer. Along with finishing this part of the work, members will be decorating the containers for the Thanksgiving project for residents of the Valley Hi Nursing home. Plans have been made to visit the Botanic Garden of the Chicago Horticultural society in Glencoe, Thursday, Oct. 31. A guided tour will be given. The Nov. 19 meeting will be one of the highlights of the 1974- 75 calendar year. Mrs. Emil C. Walker, Jr., of Woodstock will be guest speaker and will give a program on "Flower A r r a n g e m e n t D e m o n strations". This very fine and knowledgeable speaker will need no introduction to members of the Garden clubs of the 1st district as her name and her multiple talents are widely recognized. Tickets for guests will be sold for this program at the door as well as in advance. The succeeding months have been filled with more exciting plans. Handbooks will be distributed to all members at the September meeting and they will provide everyone with all the necessary information pertinent to our 1974-75 plans. An invitation is extended to any woman who is a member of the Whispering Oaks Community center on the third Tuesday morning of each month at 10 a.m. If there are any deviations from this particular time and day the handbook will indicate. Erickson. 1971 Graduates Of MCHS Wed On Saturday A late summer wedding was solemnized Saturday, Sept. 7, when Barbara Huff and Leonard Chutka were married before the altar of St Mary's Catholic church, McHenry. The Rev. Joseph Kulak officiated at the 2:30 guitar Mass in a church decorated with bouquets of gladioli, roses and carnations. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Huff, Sr., of 7920 Mason Hill road, Woodstock, and her bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chutka of 508 W. Deerpath drive, McHenry. The bride's gown was fashioned of silk faced organza and Irish cut cotton lace embroidered with pink flower buds. It was designed with an empire bodice, Victorian neckline on a mini yoke, long bishop sleeves and an A-line skirt bordered at the hemline with a deep flounce of fluted organza and cotton lace. Similar trim highlighted the bodice of the gown. Her cathedral length mantilla bordered in matching lace was attached to a lace bandeau cap. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, yellow and pink roses and baby's breath. Carolyn Huff attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Julie Huff of Woodstock, the bride's sister- in-law, Ellen Huff of Woodstock, the bride's sister, and Joanne Dierkes of Schaumburg, the groom's sister. The maid of honor wore a pink flocked polyester crepe gown featuring bell sleeves with deep cuffs and a wide ruffle hem. The bridesmaids wore similar gowns in yellow. Each attendant carried long stemmed yellow roses trimmed with baby's breath. The bride and her mother made the attendants' gowns. Dave Schmitt of McHenry served the groom as best man. Groomsemen were Ken Huff of Woodstock, the bride's brother, and Greg Dierkes of Schaumburg. Dan and James Huff, brothers of the bride, handled ushering duties. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs Huff chose a beige polyester knit dress with a gold trimmed jacket. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for 160 guests was held at the American Legion home, McHenry. Upon their return from a honeymoon in Florida, the newlyweds will reside in McHenry Shores. The newlyweds are 1971 graduates of MCHS. She is employed as a secretary at Rardin-Long, Inc., Woodstock, and he works as a mechanic at Payton Chevrolet, McHenry. On the evening before the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held for twenty members of the wedding party at the home, of the groom's parents. Checkerboard Squares Resume Winter Activities The Checkerboard Squares were off to a great start Saturday evening, Sept. 7, at Edgebrook school, when they resumed their winter dancing activities.
