This report dealt with an analysis of several alter native solid wa/te management technologies, the financial requirements of their im plementation, as well as potential disposal sites Considered were con ventional landfill, shredded landfill, composted landfill. and incineration landfill. A financial analysis of the cost of each system was developed. Factors considered were land costs, site preparation, operating equipment and buildings, engineering and contingencies, and financing costs. An estimated disposal fee for each system was also presented All alternatives used a design year of 1995. Land requirements for each alter native also reflected a 1995 design year, acreage needs were presented as a minimum - and maximum for each type of BIG BAND CAVALCADE Elgin is soon due for one of the most exciting events in its history when "Big Band Cavalcade" comes there Oct. 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the Hemmens auditorium as presented by the Fox Valley Music association for all who hold memberships in the Red Series. However, it was pointed out that regar dless of which waste management system was implemented, resources recovery should be encouraged at the point of generation 'home, office, school) and that as quantities increased and the uncertain cost factors stabilized and sustained markets develop recovery should be implemented. A major work element of this study was the detailed assessment of ten alternative landfill sites suitable for a disposal program serving McHenry county. Identification of possible waste management locations was based on a number of environmental and economic factors including: Suitability of site soils, isolation from con flicting land uses, access from major all-weather roads, existing land use and zoning, topographic, vegetation and drainage conditions, potential final uses after completion, and accessibility toprincipal, initial and future service areas. During 1972, for the first time in history, more than half of the families in America realized $10,- 000 or more in annual income.
