WOMEN'S AUXILIARY The Wonder Woods Woman's auxi l iary held their monthly meet ing on Sept . 26 a t the Fasts ide f i rehouse with Jean Clause, president , presiding. I t was decided to postpone the f lee market and rummage sale unt i l next Spring, s ince the weather has been so un­ favorable . Plans were discussed for the Founder 's Dinner which is tentat ively set for Oct . 26. A secret pal was chosen by each member for the coming year , to be remembered in anyway the member wishes. After the closing of the meet ing, coffee and cake were served by Marge Evans, hostess for the evening. The next meet ing is to be held a week ear ly on Oct . 17 due to other commitments on the twenty-fourth. The directors and fr iends of the associat ion did a marvelous job on Saturday, Sept . 28 taking in the piers , put t ing up s t reet s igns that some vandals had torn down, and just making themselves very helpful in general , for which the Wonder Woods res idents are very grateful and appreciat ive. FISH CARD PARTY The Wonder Lake and Ringwood FISH are grateful to a l l who helped in any way to make their card par ty on Wednesday, Oct . 9 , successful . All proceeds from the par ty wil l help to pay the FISH expenses - 24 hour answering service, te lephone and postage. A big thanks for the generosi ty of those who answered the FISH cal l for "Help!" VISIT TOWER When upper grade teachers , Retha Strain and Dawn Tret t in planned an educat ional t r ip to Chicago for their e ighth grade s tudents a t Harr ison school , they didn ' t include a vis i t to Soldier Field to watch the Bears pract ice footbal l . Nevertheless , this is just what some of the Class of '75 saw, with the help of the te lescopes a top the Sears Tower. The spectacular view from this incredible ta l les t bui lding in the world, wil l be remembered by each member of the group for years to come. From the top of the tower, they descends al l the way to the lower level of the bui lding where they lunched with 1,700 people in the Americana cafeter ia The decor of the room was done Ent i re ly in red, white and blue and tables were sect ioned off according to States . A br isk walk along Wacker Drive took the young people to the Tribune Tower to learn about the makeup of a big c i ty newspaper . The grammer classes at Harr ison have been s tudying al l aspects of newspaper wri t ing and product ion The tour of the Tribune included a view ol the exci t ing newsroom, a movie, "From Trees to Tribune", and a vis i t to the pressroom < whei e some students came away with gif ts of Pressman's Hats! ) The t ra in t r ip to and from Chicago was another "f i rs t experience" for many in the eighth grade class . Bakal is announced recent ly . This is $3,272,625 more than las t year when $34,277,375 was paid. McHenry County col lege was awarded $36,418 under this program The money, 45 per cent s ta te and 55 per cent federal , i s paid annual ly to school dis t r ic ts , community col leges , univer­ s i t ies and other agencies which offer vocat ional program. I t i s used for program operat ion, equipment , professional and curr iculum development , research act ivi t ies , and special projects . The reimbursement is desigend to offset the extra cost of vocat ional program and to encourage schools to offer more programs.
