Many Senior Hear College There was an over - flow attendance when President Kenneth Bowsher called the meeting of the McHenry Senior Citizens club to order at East campus cafeteria. Walter Gerth of the McHenry county college spoke to the group, and also the principal of Edgebrook school. Senior Citizens can play a most im­ portant part in helping at Edgebrook school and the Junior high as there is an urgent need of individual personal attention for many students. Those who have time and want to volunteer should contact the secretary, Mrs. Emily Fairchild, and she will give the name of the parties to contact. Alf Heggeland advised that square dancing would be resuming Thursday evening, Citizens Spokesman ' Oct. 17, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Landmark school. He has room for more dancers. The Art classes are pretty well filled on Tuesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. at Landmark school. Frank Giel reported he could use more bowlers at the Friday afternoon sessions. The Tuesday morning and af­ ternoon groups are quite well filled. Social chairlady, Helen Strandquist, announced that the tickets for the annual Christmas dinner and party will be on sale at the next three meetings, but, inasmuch as the seating arrangement is limited, get reservations in early. The next meeting of the McHenry Senior Citizens club will be Monday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. when the program will consist of some very interesting pictures on Alaska and other interesting places. Present Benefit Performance For Red Cross Chapter A benefit show for the McHenry county chapter of the American Red Cross will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 8:45 p.m. The play will be "Natalie Needs a Nightie." With their outstanding cast of performers, i t promises to be a very entertaining evening - besides helping a very worthy organization. Tickets for the show do not include dinner. For theater tickets call the Red Cross Chapter in Woodstock 815-338- 1050. BIRTHS v MCHENRY HOSPITAL Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Buch announce the birth of a son, Oct. 16 at McHenry hospital. MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WOODSTOCK Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robinson, McHenry, are parents of a son, Oct. 18. A daughter was born Oct. 19 to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Diedrich of McHenry. OTHER BIRTHS Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Mauch of Griffith, Ind., announce the birth of a son, Scott Patrick, on Oct. 17, at St Margaret 's hospital, Hammond, Ind. The baby weighed 9 lbs. , 3 oz., and has a 3-year-old brother, Michael. Post 4600 heard reports from many of t j ie chairman at the October meeting which was held Wednesday, Oct. 9 The charter was draped in memory of Enid Baseglia, who was a past president of the Department of Il l inois of the Ladies auxiliary to the V.F.W. Enid had resided in the McHenry area for the past few years. Phyllis Harper was welcomed into the organiztion by the members in attendance and Ruth Lawson reinstated her membership at the meetings. Rehabilitation chairman requested the members to turn in hours to her where they have given aid to youths, veterans or veterans families. The membership chairman reported on paid up mem bership, which has reached 80 percent, and requested members to remind those who have not paid their dues to due so. National Home chairman urged the members to continue saving the bonus coupons that appear on many grocery items. These can be converted to cash for the National home funds. Downey Veterans Hospital chairman reported on the September visit made bv SUPPORT "TENNIS BALL"-- Miss Mary Watry, girls' Physical Education instructor at Johnsburg Junior high school, and Thomas Pieper, boys Physical Education instructor, are the first to buy tickets from Bud Lytle, P.T.A. president, for this Saturday's P.T.A. dance, The "Tennis Ball", being held at the Johnsburg Community club. Everyone is looking forward to a fun-filled evening Oct. 26. several of the women. Those who attended and entertained the patients with games are Mary Kuemmel, Ethel Hagberg, Lucille Garifi , Barbara Bryniarski and Ila Hogan. Some of the needs at the hospital are ditty bags, panty hose, make-up, embrodier, knitting needles and yarns. Voice of Democracy -chairman reported that all schools that had participated in the program last year had been contacted by the V.F.W. National organization on this year 's program The local schools will be contacted soon by the auxiliary chairman. The next regular meeting of the Ladies auxiliary to V.F.W.
