McCultom Lake Gerry Milbratz 385-8543 Po/fc* Truste*, Officers Resign At Board Meeting Resignations were accepted from police trustee, Ray Lary, and officers Jim Schultz and Richard Penny, at the October meeting of the village board. It was decide^ to keep our own police department, presently consisting of two officers, Ralph Regner and Art Sullivan, with plajis to hire another of ficer. Civil defense director, Skeets Morris, resigned his position, and at this time a new director is needed. The village must have a civil defense director, if we are to qualify for federal aid in case of a disaster. Responsibilities include at tending one or two meetings per month, for which the director would be reimbursed for gas mileage. Anyone in terested in assuming this position, or obtaining further information, is asked to contact Allan McKim. Don Parenti was appointed a village trustee, and will remain on the board until the April, 1975, election. The contract for village road work was awarded to the Curran contracting company, and they have already started repairs. Letters sent to property owners, regarding upkeep of vacant lots, have brought some results and more letters will be sent until all properties are taken care of. There was some discussion about the recent break in at the village hall. Supplies kept there were damaged or stolen and windows were broken. Repairs and replacements are costly, and residents may begin to think it isn't worth it, to keep the village hall open to kids, when they wreck the things that are provided for them. The next village board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12, 8 p.m. SHERIFF TO SPEAK HERE McHenry County sheriff, Art Tyrrell will speak at our village hall on the problems of drugs, and drug abuse, in our area. The public is invited to attend this enlightening discussion, to be held at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30. 1 LADIES OF THE LAKE Even though not too many came in costume, the Ladies of the Lake had a real good time at their Halloween meeting. Two new members, Anni Leonard and Pat Scheib, were welcomed to the group. The Ladies had their traditional Halloween refreshments, cider and doughnuts, during the social hour. 1 There was some discussion on the upcoming Christmas party, to be held, Dec. 12. More definite plans will be made at the next meeting, Nov. 14. OZARK VACATION Ray and Gertrude Murphy returned home, Oct. 5, from a pleasant 6 day trip to the Ozarks. They traveled by us, with the Vagabond travel group, of which Ray is a member. The MUrphys thought the Ozarks were beautiful, and also enjoyed the outdoor plays they attended while there. This was the first time in some years that they went on a trip with the group and both thoroughly enjoyed the relaxation of having all sleeping, eating, and traveling arrangements taken car of by someone esle. BEACH GALS PARTY The beach gals got together at the village hall, Oct. 16, for their first annual Halloween party. Nearly all wore costumes and prizes were awarded to Donna Gates, Dawn Miller and Lolly Rowe for having the best ones. The hall was decorated, and the gals enjoyed games and some delicious refreshments. RECOVERING After having surgery, and complications afterward. which are now being taken care of, Richard Penny still a patient in McHenry hospital, is feeling much better. He and his family are hoping he'll be able to go home soon, and not ever have to go back to the hospital. WRISTWATCH FOUND I have a child's wristwatch which was found in the vicinity of gate 4, and Parkview, a few weeks ago. The person who lost it, may call me, atid if it can be properly identified, I'll return it. V / TRICKSTERS v Although Halloween i6 still a week away, some persons have started with the tricking already, namely soaping windows. Residents feel it's bad enough cleaning windows the day after Halloween, but when they have to do it two or three times before then, that's too much. The kids might think adults are crabs for com plaining about their pranks on Halloween, but if they had to clean up a couple of times already, it's no wonder they're mad, and tired of it by Halloween. LOCALTALENT The McHenry senior citizens kitchen band took the blue ribbon at this year state fair, in Springfield. Helping the group to achieve this top honor were McCullom Lake residents Mary Kantorski, Ray and Gertrude Murphy and Susan Klaybor, all members of the band. HALLOWEEN PARTY Village kids, to age 12, don't forget the Halloween party at the village hall, Oct. 31. There'll be a parade, costume judging and refreshments. The time is 7:30 p.m. HARVEST MOON DANCE Tickets for the dance Nov. 9, at the village hall can be purchased from any of the Beach Gals. A local band will provide music for the night, and food and drinks will be available. The dance is being held to raise funds for children's activities, and many people have already bought tickets. The dance is from 7:30 until 12 p.m. ANNIVERSARY A belated happy anniversary to Archie and Mae Aubin, who celebrated their anniversary, Oct. 22.
