The occasion being the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Schaid. Less than $200 was the reward of the yeggmen who entered the Ringwood State Bank at Ringwood some time during the early hours of Monday morning. A.H. Severinghaus of Chicago, who has a summer home at Pistakee Bay, recently purchased Volo Law yearling by Dick Law from Dr. W.W. Lichty of Woodstock. Volo Law is considered one of the best bred colts in MeHenry county. Those who attended the Methodist church last Sunday were privileged to hear a sermon by Dr. Aubry S. Moore, district superintendent, who conducted /the first quarterly conference following the church service. The U.S. department of Commerce is making a coast of geodetic survey in this region and the elevation survey markers are being put up this week. On Wednesday one of the copper plates was put on the northwest corner of the high school building and the sur­ veyors will follow and mark the elevation above sea level. Forty Years Ago (Taken from the files of Nov . 1,1934) Furnishings of the George J. Sayer home at Pistakee Bay were sold at public auction on Monday. The expensive fur­ niture, rugs imported and made to order brought a good price. They were auctioned by the William, Barker and Severn Twenty-five Years Ago (Taken from the files of Nov. 10,1949) A double celebration is scheduled by the members of the American Legion MeHenry Post this coming Sunday at their new club house. There will be a program to dedicate the new home and a celebration of the post's thirtieth an­ niversary. The Post was organized in November 1919. Its first commander, A.H. Pouse, will present the new home to M.L. Schoenholtz, the recently retired commander, during whose tenure of office the new home was completed. William Kinsala is now enrolled in a two year interior decorating course at Woodbury college, Los Angeles, Calif. Postmasters Ray McGee and Elmer Freund attended the postmasters convention held last week in the Sherman hotel in Chicago. One of the top honors for 4-H club members was awarded this week to Miss Carol Harrison of Ringwood a 1947 graduate of MeHenry high school. Carol has been selected as one of the twenty - six out­ standing Illinois 4-H club members to represent this state at the National 4-H club Congress in Chicago. Miss Virginia Ziolkowski of the Villa hote4, Pistakee • Bay, exchanged Vows with William Cruickshajik at her home Oct. 29. Mrs. Joseph Asro, 33, of Island Lake, passed away last , week at her home following a lingering illness. Ten Years Ago (Taken from the files of Nov. 5,1964) . The Very Rev. Robert E. Savage, rector of Christ church, Waukegan, and dean of the Waukegan deanery will officiate at the installation of Fr. Arthur McKay, new vicar of St. Paul's Episcopal church, MeHenry, on Sunday, Nov. 8. The City Council adopted an ordinance Monday night which establishes new ward lines and creates a fourth ward in the city. With a fourth ward established, two additional aldermen will be elected in the next city election to be held in April 1965. Wayne Widenhoeft, 26 years of age, father of four young children, died in a three car accident in Florida, Oct. 29. He had made his home in MeHenry for many years and was educated in the local schools. Shay Music World is having its grand opening Nov. 5, 6 and 7 on Green street. The owner is Alyce Joyce Shay, who is not a newcomer to the music business. She operated Alyce Joyce Music studio in MeHenry for many years.
