n 1 $600 Check I Given Wonder Lake Firemen Ed O'Brien, chief of the Wonder Lake Fire department, recently accepted a check in the amount of $600 from JoAnn Gran, president of the Wonder Lake Women's club. The presentation was made at the Harvest Hard Times party held at Christ the King Catholic church. The money will be used to purchase special rescue equipment. Adult Class Is Confirmed Eleven new members were received by adult confirmation at Shepherd of the Hills- Lutheran church Sunday. A brief service of adult con­ firmation was held within the regular worship service on Sunday and provided a time for each member of the class to come tft the altar of the church to receive a certificate 6f church membership. The class members had met for a period of t ime with Pastor Roger Schneider to discuss the basic teachings of the Christian church and to familiarize themselves with the local church program so that they could have a meaningful church membership. The members of the class include Charles Schmaus, Gail Sch­ maus, Carvn Sivertsen, Colleen Sivertsen, David Catherwood, Velma Catherwood, Dorothy Fundahn, Dianne Alvord, Robert Koth, JoAnne Koth, and Ruth Hauck. A reception to honor the new members will be held in the Fireside room of the church Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The get- acquainted evening is being planned by the Evangelism committee of the church headed by Dennis Polewaczyk. Sixteen New Members Join Senior Citizens When President Kenneth Bowsher called the McHenry Senior Citizens club meeting to order Monday evening, Oct. 28, there were 215 in attendance to unite in reciting the pledge of allegiance. Sixteen new members were introduced and welcomed into the club. Their attention was called to the fact that election time is drawing near, and the way to get the most out of any organization - is "to become involved, become an officer and assume some responsibili ty, and work. Membership Chairlady Dona Usedom is usually very busy at the meetings, gretting newcomers and registering new members; therefore, i t is suggested that to save time and confusion, mail dues directly to the club at P.O. Box 201, McHenry. Mrs. Usedom will see that a new membership card is sent promptly. Mem­ bers is arrears for three months are automatically dropped from the membership rolls. The bus trips have been very popular, and the next trip to Madison, Wis., to visit the Oscar Mayer plant will be Wednesday, Nov. 6. The bus will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 9 a.m. There will be two buses going to the Chicago Loop ' Wednesday, Nov. 13. Buses will leave the bank parking lot at H:45 a.m. There are stil l a few reservations left . Contact Mrs. Louise Giel at once. The bus trip scheduled for the Phil Donahue show Wed­ nesday, Nov. 13 has been changed to Wednesday. Nov 20. The bus will leave the bank at 8:15; ' m There i« hus trip to South Ridge shopping center (south of Milwaukee) Wed­ nesday, Dec. 4, the bus leaving the bank parking lot at 9 a.m. Make reservations promptly with Mrs. Giel. John Doerr is also trying to get a bus trip arranged for a future date to visit the Nestle plant at Burlington, Wis. Further particulars will be given on this trip as soon as plans are completed. Social Chairlady Helen Strandquist reminded the members that t ickets for the annual Christmas dinner party are now on sale. As seating is l imited, reservations should be made promptly with Mrs. Giel. The date is Monday, Dec. 9 with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Those who cannot attend the dinner may attend the meeting and program which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Alf Heggeland reports that Art classes Tuesday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. are fil led; however, he has a waiting list for those whoe would like to get into the classes as soon as there is an opening. He also reported the square dancing is from 7 to 9 p.m. each Thursday evening. Both the Art classes and square dancing are at Landmark school. Frank Giel reports there is sti l l a li t t le room for additional bowlers at the Friday afternoon sessions. The program for the evening was given by Esther and Holger Hakansson, who shared with the club the beautiful pictures of their trip to Alaska, and many other places of in­ terest. The pictures were very lovely, and the narration by the Hakansson's very informative. It was a most enjoyable program. Alice Chermak, Program chairlady, reports that Mon­ day, Nov. 11, the program will feature McHenry Choral club, a program looked forward to with enthusiasm On Monday, Nov. 25 there will be a program by the students of the Mar-Ray Dance studio of McHenry, another program that promises to be very enjoyable and en­ tertaining. BIBLE STUDY A Bibje study group moderated by the Rev. Michael Douglas will meet at St. Patrick's church hall Thursday afternoons from 1 to 2:30 o'clock, beginning Nov. 7. Anyone interested may obtain more information by calling St. Patrick's Religious Education office. BIRTHS McHENRY HOSPITAL Mr. and Mrs. Domingo Estrada, McHenry, became parents of a daughter Oct. 25.
