BROWNIE NEWS Brownie Troops 418 and 419 held a joint investiture ceremony in the Harrison school lunch room last Monday. Moms were invited and took part in the opening flag ceremony and the closing Brownie ring with their Brownie daughters. Membership stars were presented to second year Brownies - Denise Malo, Kim Freund, Crista Terrell , Tammy Miller, DeDbie MacKay, Lori Killam, Mary Burmann, Lori Grauman, Jeannie Turner, Gina Fruscella and Kim An­ derson. Next, after their recess and washroom break, counters were passed out to Mrs. Maris 's second graders and the next lesson in their Math class had begun. On a positive note, with all the Criticism lodged against our school systems, found the students in each classroom we visited to be interested, in­ volved and learning. Our recommendation is that more parents "learn" by the actual experience of visit ing their children's school. LUNCHEON Mrs. Marlene Malo en­ tertained several friends at a luncheon on Halloween Day. Special guest of honor was her mother-in-law, Mrs. Julie Malochleb, who was a visitor of the Malos for a few days. SCOUTS TAG DAY The Girl Scouts of Kachina Neighborhood are grateful to the community of Wonder Lake for i ts fine support of their recent Tag Day. This year 's fund raising proceeds, used to help Scouting in our own area, were the best yet. ANNIVERSARY Happy second wedding an­ niversary to Phil and Debbie Johnson on Nov. 18. YOUNG AT HEARTS We've been neglecting our Young at Hearts here in Wonder Lake, but it takes a bit of doing to keep up with these "old fogies"! Last month they took a trip to a Mormon Village in Nappanee, Ind., and ac­ cording to President Marie Robinson enjoyed the most beautiful fall colors they've seen on any of their journeys. Many people in the group returned home with some of their Christmas shopping done after last week's jaunt to Wisconsin. The bus gradually got a li t t le fuller after stops at a cookware store in West Bend, Wise.; a leather outlet store and a winery at Cedarburg, Wis. To add to the enjoyment of the day, everyone shared in a delicious lunch at a fish shanty. Plans have been made for the annual Christmas Party, to be held this year at the McHenry Country Club on Dec. 12. The next gathering of these happy people will be on Wednesday, Nov.*20, at Christ the King Hall. CADETTES CEREMONY The Cadettes of Troop 420 chose to honor their moms at their recent investiture and rededication ceremony. The ceremony was held in honor of the birthday of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouting in the USA. The Cadettes presented a flag ceremony followed by the candlelight investiture ceremony in which new Scout, Sue Narowetz, was pinned with her Girl Scout pin. New Cadettes were welcomed and presented with their cockades and crests by second year Cadettes. New Cadettes to Troop 420 are Cindy Crocco, Joy Cope, Sherri Grauman, Mary Lance, Daphne Bruce, Pam Berg, Patty Goralka, Sue Narowetz, Kay Ann Schuler, Laura Eising and Kim Vitellaro. Each Cadette then presented her mom with a daisy corsage. This was the Scouts way of thanking their moms for helping and supporting the Scouting program. New patrol leaders were installed w ith the cords of their office. Patty McMillan, Diana Hay, Jil l Baker and Heaiher Fitzgerald are new patrol leaders. Their assistants are Kay Ann Schuler, Laura Eising, Mary Lance and Daphne Bruce. During Court of Awards, badges were presented to Scouts for summer badge work and work completed at the recent "Harvest of Skills" event at Shabbona Hills. Badges were awarded to Jil l Baker, Mary Lance, Joy Cope, Cindy Crocco. Patty Coleman, Susie Berg. Pam Berg, Jodi Beyer, Mary Beth Noble, Kay Ann Schuler, Daphne Bruce and Laura Eising.
