(STAFF PHOTO-WAYNEGAYLORD) Wrestling Warriors See Improved Season With Large Turnout by Dick Rabbitt The 1974-75 wrestling Warriors are looking for an improved season under new head coach Marty Sobczak. November 4 was the starting date and approximately 30 juniors and seniors are ex­ pected to report and be issued equipment. Many wrestlers have been engaged in preseason workouts during the month of October with assistant varsity coach Bob Ludwigsen and sophomore coach Ray Mathis. During the preseason workouts the boys were run­ ning and doing conditioning drills. Weight training was also a part of the routine to help build strength and overall conditioning. About 25 boys at all levels took part in the preseason workouts Coaches Sobczak and Lud­ wigsen are looking forward to a successful season There is a lot of experience back that will bolster the Warrior machine Ken Scanlin at 105 and Bob Eppel at 185 both secional qualifiers last year are back Junior Jim Murgatroyd will be back again at 119 ibs., after wrestling on the varsity squad last season as a sophomore. Steve Lane another returning letterman will again play an important part in the upper weights for the Warriors Last year's sophomore team will bring many experienced wrestlers to the varsity squad, which should provide the Warriors with depth and ability Matt Schuster, Denny Useman, Billy Rowe, and Brian Nuss are some of those sophomores who have had exceptional records. The overall team has ex­ perienced wrestlers at nearly all twelve weight classes, which will provide depth for this year's team. Under Coach Sobczak there will be many changes initiated to build the Warriors into a strong con­ tender for the conference title. The Warriors open the season at home on Nov. 22 against Elgin Larkin Open Snowmobile Meeting Scheduled For November 13 A second open snowmobile meeting is scheduled for Wednesday. Nov. 13, by the Illinois Department of Con­ servation The meeting will be held at Bakers Community House, 101 South 2nd Street, St, Charles at 7 p.m. This meeting is being held to announce the department's findings and decision on snowmobile use areas and other snowmobile issues in Illinois. The open meeting held in September was called a proposal meeting to gather information on what the Illinois snowmobilers wanted and needed This meeting was well attended by representatives from the Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs, In­ ternational Snowmobile In­ dustry < ISIA), Illinois General Assembly, Illinois Snowmobile Mclnerney Wins Most Valuable Award At McHenry so the McHenry Sportsman's Club members will sponsor a Turkey Shoot next Sunday. The award was given by Coach Bill Hutchinson at the annual awards night held at West Campus on Tuesday- night. The senior runner has the course record at McHenry West Campus course, running the three mile distance in the nifty time of 15:40. The Most Improved Award went to junior Andv Oakley, and the 100 percent Man Award went to Greg "Spider" Worm. Fred O'Halleran won the Most Valuable sophomore award. The "Running Warriors" of Coaches Bill Hutchinson and Earl Kyle won 15 dual meets and lost only to Mundelein.
