Whispering Oaks (Whiapere from the "Oaks") Marllynn Hamilton 385-6962 Grandparents Attend Gibbs' Baby Christening Kevin Todd Gibbs made his bow to the world on Sunday, Nov. 10, as proud Grand parents, John and Eleanor Gibbs, attended his christening in Palatine. The Gibbs are happy that their son John Robect and his family were transferred back to this area from New Jersey. "John is credit manager for a Chicago firm. JOYS OF CAMPING John and Eleanor Gibbs discovered the joys of camping this summer when they took their new ucamper to Fargo, N.D. for a lOday visit with their daughter, Maureen Weber, and her family. Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed getting to know their three lively grand children again. GARDEN CLUBTOUR Threatening skies cleared early and the Whispering Oaks Garden Club formed a caravan of cars for their trip to the Botanical Gardens in Glencoe. The ladies were treated to a slide presentation on the Gardens, which explained how the Gardens have grown from a wasteland and marsh in a short 8 years, and were told of plans for the future, including an Education Center in an all weather complex. The guide conducted the avid gardeners through the landscape gardens and through the greenhouses, ending the tour with an in vitation to "Come again in the Spring" when the gardens will ^resent their Spring face. Following the successful tour, the ladies topped their day with a delightful lunch at 3 well known restaurant in Winnetka. The Garden club looks for ward to its next meeting on Nov. 19 at 12:15 when they will present their "Gardener's Christmas" with Mrs. Mary Walker of Woodstock. Mrs. Walker is a well known flower show judge and flower arranger, and will demonstrate to the ladies how to beautify every nook and cranny of their homes at Christmas time with all natural and dried materials from their own gardens. Quests may attend the meeting for a nominal charge. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from any Garden Club member DREAM VACATION Kay and Austin Smith of Oak- wood Drive recently returned from a dream vacation. They drove to Charleston, S C. where they met friends, Mr. and Mrs. Niels Seaquist, and began a fabulous week's cruise on the Seaquist yacht, the "Seaquist." They cruised the Intracoastal waterway to Miami, checking into a different port every night."One of the highlights was a stop over at Frances Langford's Resort, "The Outrigger". After a relaxing 5 day visit at the Seaquist home in Golden Beach, Fla., they flew to Charleston to pick up their car for the drive home and back to the reality of every day life in Whispering Oaks. RECUPERATING Friends and well wishers of Mil Albrechts of Front Royal Court were especially happy to learn that the hurried surgical trip to McHenry hospital proved to be a good trip, one with NO worries. Mil is now home and recovering nicely, even catching up on small tasks around the house. CALIFORNIA VISITORS Lynne and Clem Dubsky of Oakwood Drive were the happy hosts to Lynn's sister, Mrs. Helen Nielsen, from San Francisco and her niece, Mrs. Barbara Roth from Los Angeles, Calif. The occasion for the visit, the first in several years, was the wedding of their niece Dawn Malone to Jerry Mueller in West Chicago. The visit was a hurried 3 days of catching up on news and renewing family ties. PROUD MOTHER Mrs. Florence Wickershiem of Front Royal Court is an especially proud mother. CANDIDATES NIGHT A late but well deserved word of praise should go to the of ficers of the Whispering Oaks Association for their Can didates Night held recently at the Whispering Oaks Com munity Center. Whispering Oaks has many new residents, most from out of the county and the meeting gave them the chance to meet their can didates. Judge William Gleason gave an interesting explanation on how judges become judges. Associate Judges are appointed by the Circuit Judges, upon a vacancy in the Circuit Judgeship, an Associate Judge moves up by appointment by the Superior Court. Circuit Judges must then run at election time on their own merit for a full term of their own, sometimes with an op- Village of Sunnyside Evelyn Sandell 385-2696 Hold Workshop For SEDOM Bazaar At Borcher Home There's a lot of activity around the Robert and Rose Borcher residence lately.
