On the agenda was a note of appreciation to Sylvia Wasicak for her collection of the donations to the rescue squad. Also last year's snowplowing contract was settled with Joe Flipek, who was present at the meeting. It was stated that for the 1974-75 winter season Scott Lundy will do the job. Thirteen residents have been sent letters of past due notices for their 1974 dues. Please pay now before the end of the year. The A ssociatior. has been very fair as not to impose any late charges. It will definitely be pot- luck and lots of fun! CALIFORNIA TRIP It was an enjoyable two weeks for Eunice Besing and her son, Ron Arthurs, and grandson Eric who drove to Dublin, Calif., to visit Mr. and ^Irs. Terrence Scherwinka and family. Mrs. Besing also saw her sister, Frances Pagenkoph, and ^daughter, Janice Besanger, and her husband, Jim, and their four children in San Jose. Among some of the interesting ac tivities they liked were a ride on a San Francisco trolley and dinner in China town. Eric especially will remember his swim in the Pacific Ocean. Lastly, beautiful California sun was included in the trip which was indeed a thrilling vacation for everyone! BUS STOP CONDUCT Parents, just a reminder that the actions of your children while they are away from home reflect your teachings. Pushing, rock throwing, name calling and the like are only done by those not having respect for another person. Do you want your children to mature into responsible young adults, then let's inform them how to act?! LIGHT-UP With an early coming of darkness it will be necessary for our residents to im mediately turn on porch and garage lights. We do not have major street lights to ward off minor vandals, so please cooperate by always leaving your electricity on to help yourself and the community. A small light inside the house also helps when you are not home. Watch your neighbor's house too and tell them when you will not be home. PERSONALS ..A huge laundermat get- together from Euclid drive was totally coincidental when Dolores Jaburek, Pat Hart- mann, Gini Reid and Barb Truzowski all did their washing! How many times does that ever happen? A very happy birthday was celebrated by Betty Knuth on Nov. 15. Hope you had a very lovely day! A hearty get-well wish to Clara Kampstra who was taken by the rescue squad to McHenry hospital where she stayed in intensive care for a few days, but is now recovering and will return home. Hope you're feeling much better! Happy anniversary to two young couples in the com munity who celebrated their wedding days on Nov. 17. Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Schaeffer had a wonderful evening together and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Kiad enjoyed their first anniversary with many memories of a happy year. Roy Homo is another year younger on Nov. 20 and will have a fine birthday with his family! Diane Easton Among U or I F§ll Graduates Diana L. Easton of 501 S. Emerald drive, McHenry, is listed among the 637 October graduates of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Finding Security In Retirement HOW CHILDREN LIKE TO BE TREATED Several years ago, a British teacher asked 100,000 children (between the ages of 8 and 14) to list the ten things they would like their parents to do and not do. They represented twelve European countries, North and South America, Australia, and India. After collating the material, he published what I call the children's Bill of Rights. They are as follows: Treat all your children with equal affection. There should be a comradeship between parents and children. Treat your children's friends as welcome visitors in your house. Don't quarrel in front of your children. Mutual tolerance should exist who will receive their diplomas in the mail about Dec. 1. Ms. Easton will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. N o c o m m e n c e m e n t ceremony is held in October and preparation of diplomas is begun only after all grades are reported and verified. between parents and offspring. Never lie to a child. Always answer their questions. Don't blame or punish your child in the presence of others. Be constant in your affection and moods. Concentrate on the good points of a child, not his failings. Children the world over still require (and often want) discipline, even though many parents have lost the ball in this area. And while they thrive on love and encouragement, ex cesses in material things or Legislation Prospective legislation has been introduced in both the Sen ate and House of Representatives by the American Association of permissiveness weakens their character. They must be taught (preferably by example) that there is only one way to do things - the right way. Childhood is a relatively short period that should be enjoyed. To a young boy or girl, the days, weeks, and months pass slowly, but this is the way nature intended. To the parents, the child grows up only too quickly. Loosen the ties that bind, as it will do your child a world of good to play with his peers and to be away from the family from time to time. He'll make a few mistakes along the line, but chances are, he'll learn from them. Rttired Persons.
