RESTAURANT 2214 W. Route McHeniy, lllin SPORTS EDITOR. Here's a nice little item from our friend (and tormentor) Frances Matchen. Last Saturday night the Arnold Davidsons of Sunnyside gathered with relatives and friends at the American Legion Home to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary. Arnold's father, Antone, a spry young fellow of 95 years, was present and this was the fourth time he had attended 50th anniversaries of his children. God willing, he will help another son celebrate such an event next year. That must be a record. Our congratulations to all who celebrated this happy event. At long last we received that birthday card our co-worker Barbara Wagner has been promising. A real nice card. But---she stuck a Cubs button on it and added -- One of your loyal "Cub' Friends. Boy, do we have friends! A busy week looms ahead. On Saturday night we plan to watch the Warrior basketball team clash with the Grant five from Fox Lake on our home floor. Then comes Brenda's McHenry Choral Club program on Sunday night. She said she would un derstand if we choose to sit this one out. Wouldn't think of missing. (Alvina says so). We first heard of the Dick Allen trade from Walt Freund. The news made us both happy. No doubt Allen is a good baseball player and might be a real super star if he chose to take spring training and bat ting practice seriously. Whatever the Sox got for him, they got rid of his huge salary. Now, we want to see how good Tony Muser can be at first base. He was a good one when he got the chance. Numerous ^turnovers, thirty in all, proved A;the downfall for the young ^Varriors as they were only ahje to take 37 shots the entire game. As is the custom in freshmen basketball, the entire squad played, which is the name of the game in freshmen athletics. Dan Lindahl and Steve Cable led the team in scoring with 8 and 7 points. The "B's" made 11 of 37 for a 30 percent average, and 5 of 11 from the free throw line for a 46 percent. In the top row are Tammie Bieschke, Mary Wynveen, Julie Bitterman, Patty Smith, Theresa Bade, Mary Seaver and Jody Talbot. By Dick Rabbitt The McHenry high Warriors fresh from a record breaking performance in the King Korn Tourney open North Suburban play tonight at Zion Benton. The ZeeBees of Coach Moe Tharp who have lost to state powers East Leyden and Waukegan, and defeated Highland Park, are the team to beat in the North Suburban this year. The ZeeBees minus all conference stat and current regular at Wisconsin, Brian Colbert, still have the quality to go all the way in the conference this season. They are led by senior center Danny Mack a 6'6" demon who is averaging 25 pts per game so far in the early season. Mike Beasley a football standout and standing at 6'4" is the workhorse of the team. Cnris Hayes and Butch Monaghan (two names familiar to Warrior fans) are the guards on this fine team. Monaghan is still smarting from an ankle injury received earlier in the season. However, the Warriors have proved that they know where the basket is located. Averaging 76 pts per game, all the Warriors need to do is add a little defense to their game plan, and they will be a con tender all the way. It should be a whale of a game, a^ these twe teams really put on a show for the fans. On Saturday night an old rival Grant will be the opponent for the opening home game of the season. Last year the Warriors and Bulldogs split, the Warriors winning the regular season play, and the Bulldogs knocking off the Warriors in the Regional here at McHenry. Grant, coached by John Schad, has two returning lettermen guards Kevin Kelley, and Russ March. It is worth the price of ad mission just to see the coaches react in this game. Keep your eyes on both benches during the game, there is more going on between Coaches Ludwig and Schad than at times is going on the floor. Don't miss it, you can bet it will be a good game.
