Among the pattern crochet sti tches members learn are half-double crochet, shell , granite, arch, check, and cluster sti tches. Other techniques members may learn include hairpin lace, afghan stitch, circles, and other motifs, as, well as how to crochet on a frame and how to work with more than one color. Meeting Of \ea'r' The monthly meeting of La Leche League will be Wed nesday, Jan 8, at 8 p.m. The discussion will focus on the advantages of nursing Breastfeeding is a simple, normal function -- a natural system of supply and demand that serves both mother and baby, members say Mothers through the ages have happily nursed their babies. Breast feeding has not become com plicated, but there is a great deal.of misunderstanding about this womanly art . It was to offer information and en couragement to the nursing mother that La Leche League came, into being. The League provides books and other printed materials to give mothers knowledge and con fidence as they breastfeed their babies. They answer questions, dispel old wives' tales, support the mother if she faces criticism, and bring her into contact with other nursing mothers. The McHenry La Leche League group meets the second Wednesday of every month. Along with the advantages of nursing, other topics such as overcoming breastfeeding difficulties, childbirth, and nutrit ion and weaning are discussed at meetings. Members say pregnant women CHERI MAY is now available for late evening appointments on Thursday and Friday evenings. Also all day on Saturday.
