Debaters from McHenry East campus who ranked well in recent competition are, from left, Pam Dorsey, Todd Dass, Scott Crittenden and Mary Gattone. * b Win Speech-Debate Honors McHenry high school's in­ dividual speech events and debate teams placed high this month when they competed in the Rockford Classic Speech and Debate tournament at Rockford Jefferson high school. Participating were fifty northern Illinois area schools, including all Rockford area high schools, Glenbrook north, New Trier West, Main East and Wheaton North. The individual events team, in its second year coached by Marguerite Vandagriff, placed second overall in the individual events category. Team members participating in this tournament were Elinor Butterfield, Sandy Clark, Tina Glash, Jodie Heldt, Carol Leighty, Delea Parks, Vicki Roth, Dave Sweeney and Joy Vyduna. Individual awards went to Sandy Clark, who received an overall first place in prose reading; have Sweeney and Carol Leighty, an overall second place in competition in the area of improvisational duet acting, and the team of Sandy Clark and Dave Sweeney '* placed fourth overall in duet acting.
