Baumhofer officiated Saturday, Nov. 30, at the wedding of Paula Lynn Harrison and Timothy John Foran. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Harrison, 1925 N. Woodlawn Park, McHenry. Mr. Foran's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Foran of Twin Lakes, Wis., formerly of McHenry. The newlyweds are making their home in Palos Hills, 111. Judy Frederick Named To Head Newcomers Club The January meeting of the Town & Country Newcomers club was held the fourteenth. The following four people were installed as the club's officers for 1975. Judy Frederick, president; Judy Zid, vice- president; Christine Lawson, secretary-treasurer, and Roberta Becker, prospective membership chairman. It was announced that the meetings will begin at 7:30 in the future. Mrs. James Payton of Woodstock and Barbara Johnson, of McHenry talked to the club on the Women's auxiliary of the Family Service and Mental Health Center for McHenry County. A couple's dinner is to be held Feb. 1 at the Branded Steak House. A children's Easter Egg hunt is being planned March 22, as well as fund raising ac tivities for the year. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church. People in terested in knowing more about the club should call Mrs. John Becker. BAKE SALE The Girls Athletic association of East campus will hold a bake sale Saturday, Jan. 25, at the McHenry State bank. The wedding was sponsored by the McHenry County Friends Meeting (Quakers). According to custom of Friends, all of the guests signed the marriage certificate. A delicious meal, prepared by the bridal couple and the Meeting Community, was served. The bride's sisters, Wilma, Katie and Anna, and brother, George, were home for the occasion. Her fiance's relatives attended, including his parents, the Fred Harmons, who came from New York state; also his brother, John, and wife, Gail, with son and daughter, Jaime and Eve, from Massachusetts, and his sister, Paula, with her husband, Gary Gallun, and son, Erick, from Pennsylvania. Other guests came from Arizona, Massachusetts and Wisconsin. The new Mrs. Harmon is an elementary school teacher on the Navajo reservation at Ganado, Ariz. The bus for the Loop trip will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 8:45 a.m. The bus for the Martinique Theater East matinee will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 11 a.m. Members were also informed that tickets for the Shrine circus Wednesday, March 19, at Medinah Temple in. Chicago will be available, and Mrs. Giel will be taking reservations at the next meeting. Some ad ditional tickets for this per formance will be available for sale to friends and relatives of club members. President Kenneth Bowsher reported that the first class of Senior Citizens to attend the "Rules of the Road" review course have completed their sessions and are now ready to take their written tests when the time comes for them to renew their drivers' licenses. Anyone who must take a test in the near future should contact Kenneth Bowsher at 2600 W. Emerald court, to register. This review course will help persons to have confidence when taking their written tests at the license bureau. Officers-elect are requested to be at the meeting hall early Monday evening, Jan. 27 - as the photographer is scheduled to be there to take pictures at 7,15 p.m. promptly. The program was very beautiful and interesting pictures of Yvonne and Bill Wilson's recent trip to the "Great Tetons" and "Yellowstone" - so ably narrated by Mr. Wilson. The Wilsons' program is always a most enjoyable one. Moisten these spatters with some fingernail polish remover, allow to soak for a few minutes, then rub off with a cloth and wash with warm suds. The paint usually disappears, no matter how long it has been there. Q. How can I improvise a dustpan when the real thing is not at hand? A. Just wet a double piece of newspaper bn one edge, and your sweepings can be scooped onto this. Q. How can I put a quick shine on my floor between waxings? A. Try using a square of waxed paper under your dust mop. You'll like the shine that comes up, while at the same time the surface dirt is sticking to the waxed paper. Q. Is there anything I can do a b o u t l i g h t l y - s c o r c h e d woolens? A. Sometimes these can be made right again if you will wet the spots, then rub some dry cornstarch over them, brushing this off when the article is dry. Q. How can I remove bloodstains from silk material? A. Moisten a few inches of white sewing silk on your tongue, roll this into a ball, then rub this over the stain gently. Q. How can I clean pewter? A. Use powdered rottenstone and equal parts of turpentine and linseed oil. Dip a cloth first into the oil, then into the rot tenstone, and rub with a cir cular motion. Follow by washing in warm soapy water. Q. How can I clean copper or brass? A. Mix up a paste of equal parts table salt, flour and vinegar. Rub this over the metal, let dry, then remove with hot sudsy water. If the metal happens to be in bad shape, apply the paste more generously and allow to remain for several hours before removing it.
