PAGE 2 - PLAINDEALER - FRIDAY, JANUARY 24,1975 r* Instructional Program For Jan. 28 PTO The Hilltop Parent Teacher organization will meet Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The program for the evening will be the District 15 instructional school board meeting for the month. Teachers from the district who have received funds through the mini-projects program will be giving a presentation on the projects they have developed. On Saturday, Feb. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m., the HPTO will sponsor the annual Hilltop Fun Fair. Many new events will be featured at the fair this year. Luther League Plans Retreat The Luther League or youth group at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, has planned a weekend retreat Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 at Lutherdale Bible camp. Elkhorn, Wis. The Leaguers will leave from the church at 5:30 p.m. Friday to go to the camp, where they will be housed in cabins beside the Lauderdale Lakes. YOUTH GROUP MEMBERS The weekend will include planned discussions, films, and inspirational meetings as well as all types of organized recreation such as tobogganing, ice fishing, ice skating, ping pong, shuf- fleboard, and many other types of games. Discussions are provided weekly for the teen­ agers at the church and major activities are planned each two weeks. ' The weekend winter retreat serves as the highlight of the season for the Luther League. The church is planning for approximately fifty members of the League to attend the retreat and those who wish to go are asked to register for the event by Sunday, Jan. 26. The officers for the group are Brian Cunat, president; Nancy Harper, vice-president; Rondi Cunat, treasurer, and Lynn Ann Haddick, secretary. The sponsors for the League are Harold and Shirley Kivley, Earle and Lynnette Trier, Larry and Lynn Lund, Steve Missman, Charles and Gail Schmaus, Intern Lynn Parsons, and Pastor Roger Schneider. Show "Illinois" Films For Friendship Club The Friendship club of the First United Methodist church met for its January pot-luck dinner and meeting with forty- two in attendance. The program for the evening consisted of films on "Illinois", most interestingly presented by Mr. Jeffs of Woodstock, an Illinois Bell Telephone representative. It showed that the state has much to offer in year 'round activities. Guests Linda Andersen and Adolph Borchers were in­ troduced. Also new members, Helen and Dan Creamer, were welcomed into the fellowship. Esther Sims chosp a? her meditations, "Guess What We are Studying," a thought provoking and interesting devotion. During the business segment of the meeting, it was suggested that the club again remind members that when they are on the meat committee they should secure a replacement if unable to at­ tend. All members of the church 50 years old or older are invited to join this group. The next meeting of the Friendship club will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. Chi Upsilon Chapter Accepts McHenry Members McHenry County college's Chi Upsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has announced the names of new members accepted into its fraternity. The new members include Alice Biechke, Jessy Dominique and Debra Heinrich, McHenry; Kathleen Narusis, James Wilcox and Susan Robe, Crystal Lake; Bonnie Schendel, McHenry Country Club We will be closed from Feb. 2nd to March 14th. We will reopen Friday March 14th. Harvard; Mary Ann Strunc and Rhonda Sturm, Cary, and Margaret Wild, Fox River Grove. The group is a National Honor fraternity for com­ munity colleges and its members must have completed one full semester of work at McHenry County college and have an overall grade point average of 3.0. A spring initiation ceremony is being planned for the club. I 4-H NEWS I LINCOLN CLOVERLEAVES The Lincoln Cloverleaves 4-H club held its last meeting Jan. 13 at the James C. Bush elementary school, called to order by President Joy Vyduna. The American pledge was led by Nancy Preston and the 4-H pledge by Wendy Adams. There were thirty-six present and eleven absent. Billy Long gave the treasurer's report. The club now has a balance of $195 in the bank. Members were assigned to the Share-the-Fun committee. Kathy Besserud and Robin Noland gave the club a report on their plans for a bake sale coming up soon. Joy Vyduna suggested that our club start a health program. Following were talks and demonstrations by Alison Boyer on "The Importance of a Balanced Diet; Dan Miller on "What 4-H Can Do For You", and Kim Finkbiner on "Ap­ petizers and Hors d'oeuvres." Recreation and refreshments followed. DEBRA LEE RUSSELL PLAN WEDDING-Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Russell of Round Lake Beach have announced the engagement of their daughter, Debra Lee, to E-4 fireman Wayne McCollum, U.S. Navy. He is the son of the Daniel McCollums of' Grafton, Ohio. The couple met while Mr. McCollum was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval base. A Feb. 22 wedding in the Community Church of Round Lake Beach is planned. Miss Russell, who is employed in Niles as a computer operator, will join her bridegroom at his present assignment at Pearl Harbor Naval base in Honolulu, Hawaii.
