DINNER COMMENTS ^ A charity organization held^ wild game dinner last week and miscalculated their open house dinner from 6-9 p.m. Un fortunately, by 7:30 p.m. the food was down to scraps and one pan of bear meat. Many were very disappointed in cluding Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. Wasicak and their relatives Mr. and Mrs. Rach and Mr. and Mrs. Radini of Chicago. We saw the looks on mnay faces including Mike and LaVonne Ketchum and guests before ticket sales were stopped and some money was returned. Apologies were said by the organization and we know next time they will definitely be more prepared for the hungry McHenry com munity. It was commented that the early eaters filled their plates two and three times to help cause the food problem. The wild game was deliciously cooked however! The Vocational Education has Area Career Division of Technical also budgeted funds for the state's 60 percent share of the equipment cost. In September, the total estimated project cost was $4,000,000 with the local share of 40 percent pro-rated anjong the eight participating high school districts. THe Capital Development board is allowing the maximum building cost to escalate 1 percent per month to allow for the increase in con struction costs. The maximum cost for area career centers in September, 1974, was $26.16 per square foot. The earliest estimated bidding date for the McHenry County Area Career center is September, 1975. Oh that date the Capital Devleopment board guidelines sets the maximum cost at $29.48 per square foot. The Board of Control ap proved a section in the par ticipating agreement which provides that the question of the levy of a tax of not more than .05 percent will be sub mitted to the voters in all the participating districts in the same election. The approval of the proposition in the area comprised of the participating districts, considered as a whole, will be deemed to authorize that levy in each participating district, without regard to passage or failure of the proposition in any district, considered separately. The amount of the tax and the length of time that it can be levied will vary in each district. Some districts can raise their pro-rated share with a .05 percent rate for five years while in other districts it may require a .05 percent rate for seven years. Each of the participating boards of education will determine the tax rate and the payment schedule. The bonds must mature within 20 years which would allow most boards to levy a .02 percent rate for 20 years and raise their pro-rated share. Approximately 9.600 students participated in the career in terest survey. The survey listed thirty broad job categories and also provided space for the student to list types of jobs they were interested in but not listed on the survey. Twenty-four percent of the students ex pressed an interest in jobs other than those listed. Some of the jobs were Acting and En tertainment (82); Airline Stewardess (180); Airline Pilot (90); Conservation & Forestry (135); Commercial Art (135); Interior Decorating (126); Fashion Design (118); Heavy Equipment Operator (39); Medical Technician (48); Law Enforcement (92); Military, (100); Musician (62); Photography (99); Radio It T V. Broadcasting (71); Social Work (60); Truck Driver (162); Working With Animals (90) and Wild Life Conservation (61). The use of computers is rapidly increasing in McHenry County. Preliminary in formation reveals that one computer company completed thirteen installations in the last three years. As business and industry turn to the computer for a wide variety of accounting jobs and business applications, interesting job opportunities are also expanded. Many of the new Area Career Centers in the State are including dafta processing in their curriculum programs with satisfying results. They have discovered that high school students can be trained for complex jobs when challenged with quality in struction and modern equip ment.
