Schaffer said the senators' action was in reaction to reports that the RTA board was prepared to set Chairman Milton Pikarsky's annual salary at $82,500. "The idea of paying the head of the RTA $82,500 a year is absolutely ridiculous," Schaffer said. "That is more than we pay the Governor of Illinois, the Mayor of Chicago, the Chief Justice of the State Supreme court and each of our state and federal legislators. It may be a tough job, but the public has a right to see that the level of compensation is within reasonable bounds." Pikarsky, who is presently head of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) at an annual salary of $50,000, was chosen chairman of RTA when two suburban members of the RTA board brolat a long standing deadlock over filling the VALEER MEN'S & LADIES WEARHOUSE FINAL JACKET CLEARANCE VALEER'S LOW PRICES ON ALL JACKETS AND PARKA'S Choose from % length, pile lined coats, in the latest dressy and casual styles.
