Marian Program Craig Spengel Appears With Notre Dame Singers The University of Notre Dame Glee club, "The Voice of the Fighting Irish," will bring forty of its members to Marian Central Catholic high school Sunday, March 9. The concert, beginning at 7:30 p.m. will feature the nationally famous vocalists who have performed from coast to coast. Craig Spengel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Spengel of McHenry, is a member of the Glee club. The fine musical reputation the Glee club has earned has been continued since 1915 when the club was first organized to sing at informal campus songfests. The club today travels an average of 6,000 miles annually and entertains 20,000 listeners a year. The 1975 tour by the Glee club will in clude a European trip with stops in Rome, Paris, Vienna, Zurich, and Brussels. " Some of the highlights in the Glee club's sixty-year history have been appearing on the Ed Sullivan show, Andy Williams show, and participating in the renowned Philadelphia Musical festival. The Glee club has made many albums in past few years of religious, school, and traditional nature. "The Singing Irish" are exposed to rigorous audition and once members of the Club, follow demanding rehearsal schedules. Under the direction of Dr. David Isele, who has earned acclaim as a composer and arranger, the Notre Dame Glee Club maintains its time honored reputation as a crowd pleaser.
