Often times they never receive what they order, or they receive it months later. Many times the mail order company may be at fault. In such cases the order could have been easily lost or confused. The company could have run out of a piece of merchandise and failed to notify the customer. Sometimes catalog companies don't actually maintain a supply of what they sell. Rather they act as clearing houses and forward orders to the manufacturer. Check your own artions before blaming the company. Mail order houses report receiving hundreds of orders with no return ad dresses, no payment for the mer chandise, or no order blank en closed. Customers often send checks that are made out in correctly, illegible order blanks, orders for unavailable items, or incorrect catalog numbers. Prior to sending in an order to a mail house: • Is the order blank easily under stood? Legible? • Have you included the correct information? • Have you figured costs and postage rates accurately? • Have you enclosed the correct amount of money? In the form of a check or money order? I REMEMBER he smtmmrs From William Yarish: Leesburg, Florida: As the leaves turned to a beautiful gold red and brown, and the kids tip-toed barefooted through the oat stubble, the oat sheaves stacked waiting for the thresher, a relaxed atmosphere settled over the northern Wiscon sin country-side. The whistle of the big thresher could be heard approaching from a mile away. Mother bristled around the kitchen stove making • Have you included your return address on both the order blank and the return envelope? Zip Code? chicken soup and piles of golden brown baked chicken for the hungry threshing crew. Kids from miles away came to meet the thresher. Watching the big wheels of the steam tractor crush everything it ran over, following it from farm to farm, rolling in the straw stacks, letting the blower cover them up-oh the kids had fun while the thresher gang worked. Potato digging followed which wasn't near as much fun. The plow turned the potato hills over but much digging with your hands was necessary to find the elusive ones. There were a lot of sore hands, knees, and backs (You con shore your m»mori« of yMlor- doy with others through this column. The Old Timer, 100 East Main St., Frankfort, Ky. 40601.) I l l inois TT Mental Health Serves County Service through offices in six communities and a twenty-four hour telephone emergency service are bringing the ex pertise and understanding of professionals at the Family Service and Mental Health Clinic for McHenry County closer to the public, George Mally, executive director, told 100 people at the annual membership meeting recently. Mally said the single most significant event the past year was the passage of the referendum in McHenry county, assuring a sound financial base for "a viable and needed service for citizens of the entire county." Mally called attention to the fact that the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health is continuing its emphasis on developing mental health care programs at the local, or community, levels. He said this increased dependence on agencies such as the Family Service and Mental Health New board members of the Family Service and Mental Health Clinic of McHenry County meet with Mario Perez, president, left, following annual meeting at Crystal Lake recently. From left are Mario Perez, Mrs. Sandra Bishop, Arthur Tyrrell, Bill Tammeus, and Mrs. Mae Stinespring of McHenry. (DON PEASLEY PHOTOGRAPHY) T h e E r a t o 2 . 0 0 0 A . D . NEWS OF EARTH. Offices where staff members are available on a regular basis are at McHenry, Woodstock, Cary, Crystal Lake, Harvard and Marengo. Number of cases being handled by staff mem bers continues to increase -- from 1,105 new cases in 1973 to 1,227 new cases in 1974, for example. Total Patient in terviews totaled 13,672 in 1973 and 14,815 in 1974. Increased service through the hospital program and the alcoholism-drug abuse program document the public's awareness of this professional source of counseling and assistance, Mally said. Mrs. Barbara Powers, auxiliary president, said the women's group had raised $9,500 in behalf of the clinic the past year. Mario Perez, president who took over as board leader in mid-year, said the board has decided it must have monthly meetings because of increased demands caused by growing patient cases. He said one goal during the past year was a conscious effort to achieve better com munications with such groups as the County Mental Health 708 board, the public, and the private agencies with whom staff members work. The following were elected to serve one-year terms each on the board: Mrs. Sandra Bishop and the Itev. Thomas Johnson, Crystal Lake; Mrs. Margaret Kelly, Marengo; Rev. Richard Monson, Richmond; Steven Moore, Mrs. Elizabeth Nolan, Robert Popovich, the Rev.
