STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD A rip-roaring good time is promised those who attend St. John's Western-Style en­ tertainment nights, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21 and 22, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the John- sburg Community club. All proceeds will benefit the St. John's Restoration fund which was established in 1974 to raise $500,000 for the repair and restoration of the beautiful 75- year-old church. Along with action-packed fun and games there will be can­ can girls, a barbershop quartet and old time sing-a-long, a Heart Association Sets 1975 Goal At Annual Dinner The McHenry County Heart association had its second annual dinner recently at Branded Steak House, with twenty-five members in at­ tendance. All area chairmen have obtained numerous volunteers to solicit in a door- to-door campaign during the month of February with Heart Sunday set for Feb. 24. "The goal for the McHenry county drive this year is $30,000. It has been decided by the McHenry County Heart association to have a luau dinner dance Saturday, Sept. 20. Present Defenders Goal To Children's Home Auxiliary The Woodstock Children's home auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. in the lounge of the Methodist church, corner of Crystal Lake and Dole avenues, in Crystal Lake. The program will be presented by Sherry Anderson of the Defenders. Besides discussing the projects and goals of the Defenders, she will demonstrate crafts using recyclable materials. McHENRY , QfC. 8 Fine Program Awaits Garden Club Members Keeping in mind that Spring is just around the corner, Whispering Oaks Garden club members are looking forward to a program, "Organic Gar­ dening and conservation", Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Community center. The McHenry County Defenders will present a most interesting and enlightening in-depth discussion on these two im­ portant aspects of ecology. Sherry Anderson, coor­ dinator, and Louis E. Marchi will be the speakers. Mr. Marchi is a well known soil expert and will inform and advise of soil conditions in the McHenry area. Among sub­ jects to be discussed are r e c y c l i n g , r e s o u r c e reclamation, home remedies for mishaps, natural controls for effective and non­ destructive alternatives to pesticides and aiding individual environmental action. This program will be preceded by a brief business meeting. The nominating committee will present a slate for the new officers to be elected next month. Plans are in the making for the Garden club to begin a long range beautification program for the Community center. In the months to come the grounds will be enhanced with ad­ ditional shrubs and flowers. The club will also be cooperating with Aldermen George Harker and Jack Pepping to assist their plans for making the park at the en­ trance to Whispering Oaks on Route 120 a lovely asset to the community. Rkscue Squad Demonstration At Johnsburg Members of the Johnsburg Rescue squad will give a C.P.R. demonstration at the Feb. 18 meeting of St. Agatha Court No. 777, National Catholic Society of Foresters at Johnsburg. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Community club hall. It is hoped that as many members as possible will attend this very informative demonstration which includes slides and dummies. Know what to do in the event of a heart attack 'til help arrives. The committee for this meeting, has as members Mrs. Leo Freund. Anyone in^ terested in learning more about the Single Adults club may attend the next monthly meeting March 2 at 8 p.m. in McCormick hall, located in the basement of St. Thomas church at the corner of Pierson and King streets, Crystal Lake. The Newman club at McHenry County college was established to develop a community of faith through its various activities, which en­ compass faith, worship, service and socials. Meetings are held every Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in room C148 at McHenry County college. Students are also welcomed to attend the weekly meetings. FEBRUARY 14 Girl Scout Cookie Sale Begins.
