Warriors Take Slow Down From Broncos By Dick Rabbitt ' Coach Ken Ludwig's McHenry High Warriors won their 18th game of the season and 9th in conference play as they defeated Barrington 47 to 44 at Barrington last Friday r.ight. It was obvious from the start that the Broncos were not going to let the Warriors run and shoot. In this they were suc­ cessful, but their game plan backfired and the Warriors emerged the winner. The win improved Marian's conference record to 8-5. The Hurricanes have a 10-8 overall mark. Marian wasted little time in establishing its dominance against its undermanned foes. This is a dedicated' group of an auxiliary flotilla puts you in direct touch with a group of fellow boaters who are dedicated to common sense and who want to improve boating and to make boating more enjoyable for everyone. More information can be obtained about joining this group by calling Rod Velde (815) 459-7594 snowmobilers determined to give the sport of snowmobiling a good name. In a month's time they have formed a club, joined the Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs, and set up a snowmobile safety training course for their youngsters in cooperation with the neigh­ boring Wauconda Snowmobile Club. They have members out monitoring the snowmobile law, whose actions will destroy the sport. They are even more determined to save the sport in their area. They have rescue sleds and have let it be known that they are available in case of any snow emergency. They have among their membership, members of the fire depart­ ment, the police department, the civil defense, the sheriff's snowmobile patrol, and the National Snowmobile Patrol, who are also local business men concerned with the destiny of their community. They are looking into the possibility of joining the two trail associations in the area, the McHenry County Association of Snowmobile Clubs and the N o r t h e a s t e r n I l l i n o i s Association of Snowmobile Clubs. The club plans to mark the areas on Island Lake that are being used for ice skating and other winter sports and make sure that snowmobilers honor these markings along with observing the slow speed areas. Plans are also being made to develop a legal trail system in the area to give the members a wider area to ride and reduce the impact in any one area. The Youth Snowmobile Safety Class that the Island Lake Snowblazers and the Wauconda Snowmobile Club are sponsoring will start at 7 p.m on Thursday, Feb 20, at the Wauconda Park District Beach House.
