\0n The Siidines .Wltti Dick Rabbltt Weil the Warriors are one of the few teams in the state to hit the 20 game win mark this season. They did it by defeating a stubborn Crown crew here last Saturday nieht 79 to 61. Crown stuck with the Warriors for the first half and walked off at the intermission tied at 40 all. But the usual third quarter splurge by the Warriors paved the way to victory. The officials called them close in the first half. It could be a blessing in disguise for Coach Ludwig and his Warriors. With tournament time approaching, the officials tend to call them a bit closer. The Warriors were able to adjust in the second half, and they can expect more of the same tonight at Crystal Lake. When you play the type of pressure defense employed by the Warriors, one can expect fouls to be called. The sign of a good team is adjustment, and the Warriors proved that they can adjust. In mentioning seniors who played their last game at Buckner Gym, I failed to mention a Warrior who has been quite a help to the team this year. Eon Stine although not a regular, has played an important part in the Warrior success. The big fellow has come off the bench when needed, and has done the job. Our apologies to this fine young Warrior. The selection of players for the All Star football game to be played next August in Normal has been announced. It is very strange indeed that not one member was selected from the North Suburban Conference. Both East and West squad each have 44 players selected from the 5 classes. I can't believe that Frank Shellenback the state's leading scorer was ignored. The boy from Barrington was everyone's All State last fall. The Marian Hurricanes showed why they were the top rated club in their regional Monday night. Some people thought that the Huntley Redskins would win the regional. They were undefeated in the Little 8 and had compiled a 20 won 4 loss record during the season. With Bill Moerschbaecher leading the way with 26 pts the "Canes" won easily 83 to 61. The Marian five rebounded well and shot excellent. They should meet St. Edward's in the rubber game of the season tonight for the championship. The way they played Monday night they will be tough to beat. Vernon Kays County Clerk from Marengo was in attendance. This gentleman is probably the number one high school fan in McHenry County. £ Tom Bolger proved to be quite a prophet. Fans at ba If time were worried about the outcome of the Marian game. Tom stated "Marian will win because of the Competition they played during the regular season", -.v. Everything being equal, the caliber of competition you »play will be in your favor. •" Tom Parsley and Vern Peterson were at the mike broadcasting over a Woodstock F.M. station. As usual they did a fine job, but Tom thinks all basketball players look alike, and was finding it quite difficult to call players out by name. Don't forget to pick up your regional basketball tickets at either East or West Campus. Shut off time is 2 p.m. on Tuesday. March 4. Meet Your Coaches Gary's home town is Charleston, Illinois. Gary has a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University, and a Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University. While at Eastern he played varsity basketball. Prior to coming to McHenry he taught and coached at Jefferson Junior high at Charleston. Since his arrival at McHenry his sophomore teams have been outstanding. This season the popular young coach has the "Cardiac Kids" whose chief claim to fame is playing the close ones right down to the final buzzer. On sunny days you will find Gary riding around in a car full of students, as he is one of the Driver Training instructors at East campus.
