Mr. and Mrs. Irven Schmitt have moved from Ringwood to the flat over the bakery on Green street. Roland McCannon of Ringwood resided at the meeting of the McHenry County rural section of Illinois State Teachers association of which he is president, Thur­ sday evening at Woodstock. Frank Kempfer, Sr., was taken to the Woodstock hospital Monday evening where he was found to be suffering from shock, rib, leg and arm injuries and a broken right shoulder as the result of an auto accident. •? One of the most attractive business places in McHenry today is Althoff's Hardware store in West McHenry which has just been completely remodeled. This year the Althoffs are observing twenty- five years in business. One of McHenry's oldest residents is Chris Blake who on March 30 will observe his ninetieth birthday anniversary. March 26 in the high school auditorium a musical program will be presented by the school organization which will par­ ticipate in the district music contest at Harvard April 1. Three choruses and the or­ chestra will present their contest numbers with eighty- five students taking part. Two recent burglaries have been under investigation by Deputy Sheriff Harold Fox of Johnsburg. Both occurred in Lily Lake where wmdows and screens were broken and homes * ransacked. Jacque V. Hopkins of McHenry participated in arena type play production ex­ periments at Trinity college which are teaching students of community groups which do not have stage and auditorium facilities. A progress report was given on what has been done as far as promotion of the referendum. John Garrett, vice-president, reported that the Board of McHenry County Education and Training association (sponsors of the tool and die apprenticeship program for the college) generously con­ tributed $1,000 to the McHenry County P^ducation foundation to help defray expenses in promoting the referendum. - In other business, the board sheltered workshop in Wonder Lake this month with Mrs. Adelaide B. Patzke of Mc­ Cullom Lake in charge of the shop adjoining the training center. Mrs. Charles Allen of Joliet is spending a few weeks with Mrs. George Kane. One of the biggest farm losses due to fire to occur in Northern Illinois in recent years took place during the blizzard last week on the E.A. Wesson farm on Greenwood road. The loss of the part brick barn was estimated at about $30,000, while forty-four registered Holsteins were killed in the blaze, each valued at $600, a heavy loss occurred through the burning of 10<) tons of grain and hay. Davis, president, that Spring enrollment figures show a 20 percent increase over credit hours for the Fall semester of 1974-75.
