President Beverly Schmitt opened the meeting with a prayer and a salute to the flag. In the ab­ sence of Treasurer Madeline Behm, the Vice-President Jeanette Todey gave the report and read correspondence. Minutes were read by Secretary Sonia Miller and approved as read. A report was given on the Blood Drive, which is being sponsored by the Christian Mothers, on March 19 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Members of the Dolorata Circle of the Daughters of Isabella from Harvard were guests. Margaret Powers of Rich­ mond gave a talk on the Unity of Friendship and Charity in the Circles. Father Kilduff spoke and thanked the ladies for beautifying the rectory with the hanging of new drapes on all windows. The date of the St. Patrick card party on March 12 was announced. A nominating committee will be appointed at the next meeting. The meeting was closed with a prayer for sick and deceased members by Father Kilduff. A white elephant auction was held with Frances Heinemann as auc­ tioneer. GOOD NEWS! Richmond Community has joined the Blood Drive scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, in St. Peter's hall, Spring Grove, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. This will be of great help. toward reaching the goal of 200 donors to assure community coverage. Participation in this program will now assure all Spring Grove and Richmond area residents of blood replacement for a full year at any hospital. Those who volunteer from outside the community insure their entire family. All volunteer donors may register before and after all Masses in the vestibule at St. Peter's church and in the hallway at the west side exit. On their way home they stopped to visit Mr. and Mrs. Martin Weber in .Johnsburg. FLORIDA VACATION Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Miller have returned home after enjoying several weeks vacation in Florida. It is important that at least one parent is present.a c First Cominunicartts will have no class on that day. < SIXTIETH ANNIVERSARY In honor of the sixtieth , wedding anniversary of William and Frances Shotliff, their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shotliff of Den­ ver, Colo., were hosts at a dinner party for them held at Lorenz' Smart Country House, Antioch, on Sunday, Feb. 23. The date of the anniversary was Feb. 13. Twenty^two relatives and friends attended and enjoyed this occasion. BOY SCOUT ! NEWS TROOP 145 Boy Scout Troop 145 held its first annual Court of Honor banquet Monday, Feb. 17, at Christ the King church, Wonder Lake. The banquet commenced with a prayer given by Martin Romme. Following, the Scouts served a delicious spaghetti dinner prepared by Mrs. Joyce Long. There were over 110 parents and guests who at­ tended. After the dinner they were entertained by folk singers, Biff Huse and Terry Harris. The main theme of the evening was the issuing of many awards earned by the Scouts during the past year. The awards were issued by Scoutmaster Wayne Long, assisted by John Bockhaus and Clyde Kangas, officers of the Kishwaukee district. Eight boys were awarded their Tenderfoot Scout badge: Russ Carr, Tom Frett, Randy Lamb, Frank Lindner, Dave Lund- borg, Bob Nutter and Lars Romme. Second Class Scout award was presented to Mark Schieb. Two major steps in scouting were achieved: Greg Raab, who earned his Star award, and Mike Berlin, who advanced to the second highest award in scouting, the Life Progress award. The boys of the troop worked hard to earn a total of twenty- seven merit badges and forty- , three skill awards. Boys ob^ taining positions of leadership were Russ Carr for Librarian; Randy Lamb for Quar­ termaster; Frank Lindner for Scribe; Tom Frett for Bugler; Frank Lindner and Mark Schieb for Assistant Patrol Leaders; Russ Carr and Dave Lundborg for Patrol Leaders; Tom Nowacki and Rick Brusca to for Leadership Corps. Positions of Instructor were earned by Mike Berlin and Ken Street. The two highest positions of leadership were issued to Mike Berlin, the office of Senior Patrol Leader, and to Ken Street, the highest office of Scout leadership, the position of Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. Long outlined his new program of year-round cam­ ping, state-wide trips and community service projects aimed at the better develop­ ment of scouting fundamentals. The troop formally invites any boys between the ages of 11 and 18 who may be interested in scouting to attend the meeting any Monday night between 7 and 8:30 p.m. at the Christ the King church, Wonder Lake. Mike Berlin Cowlin Named Secretary For • Forensic Academy McHenry County State's Attorney William Cowlin was chosen secretary of the Jurisprudence section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences at its twenty- seventh annual meeting held in Chicago Feb. 18 through 21. Cowlin, who is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, will be in charge of the program for the Jurisprudence section for the next meeting of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences to be held in Washington, D.C in 1976. Among other sessions at the Chicago meeting was a panel discussion of "The Second Gun", an issue involving the assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy.
