SQUARE DANCE PROGRAM - These third grade children pictured above from Mrs. Schmalingvs class, along with their music teacher, Mrs. Leighty, were part of a group of Edgebrook school children who participated in a square dance program recently. Under the direction and guidance of Mrs. Hjarpe, a room mother; Mrs. Goetschel, learning center director; Mrs. Stratton, an aide, and Mrs. Schmaling, their classroom teacher, these* children made the sunbonnets and ties they afe wearing in the picture. The square dances were studied and learned as a unit in the students' music program from first grade through fifth grade. A representative group of children from each grade level and all the fourth grade children participated in the program to the pleasure of the attending audience of parents and friends. A dessert lunch was served followed by cards. Prizes went to Eva Freund, Dolores May and Margaret Weber. The club will meet next at the home of Marie Miller in Fox Lake. CHRISTENING The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kattner was christened Brian Paul at St. Peter's church on Sunday, Feb. 23. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Kattner. HOSPITALIZED Mrs. Paul May has been released from McHenry hospital where she was a patient the past week. Offer Bill To Require RTA Gas Tak1 Approval State Sen. Jack Schaffer, R- Cary, has co-sponsored a bill requiring voter approval of any gasoline taxes levied by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA.) The bill would amend the Regional Transportation Authority act to require a referendum in the areas af­ fected by a gas tax before the RTA board of directors can impose such a tax. Under current provisions, the board may impose a 5 per cent gas tax if two-thirds of the directors approve it. Schaffer commented: ' ' T a x a t i o n w i t h o u t representation was considered unjust 200 years ago, and those who were subject to arbitrary Grayslake Nurse Coordinator For Special Week Mrs. Cathy Williams, R.N., 10 St. Paul street, Grayslake, has been named coordinator of Illinois Nurses' week activities to be conducted March 9-15 in Lake and McHenry counties. The announcement was mad£ by Mrs. Josephine Schabowicz, R.N., president of District 16 of the Illinois Nurses association. A proclamation designating March 9-15 as Nurses' week has been signed by Governor Daniel Walker. The 1975 ob­ servance wil be the sixteenth year of INA sponsorship of the event with state-wide par­ ticipation. "Nurses Together - Sharing Strength Through Service-' is the thematic focus for Nurses' week this year. During this time registered nurses in the area will direct attention to the nursing profession's respon­ sibility for the continued im­ provement of professional knowledge and skills by un­ dertaking a voluntary program of continuing education for nurses in Illinois. They will also discuss a state-wide effort of nurses to implement the highest stadards of quality patient care possible within their areas of practice.
