New developments in health care, improved standards and increased demands for nursing Services will be emphasized. Nurses are being sought not only by hospitals but also by numerous health maintenance organizations. Modern com munications have directed attention to health care needs in rural and less advantaged communities; new medicare regulations require more registered nurses in geriatric and nursing homes. Illinois licenses ninety thousand registered nurses but only half of them are working in their profession in our state. Yet nursing, concerned with disease prevention and helping others guard their health and well-being as well as with administering to the sick and Legal Notice PUBLIC NOTICE A state of Illinois la'w known as the "Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on High ways" Article XVI, Section 134, authorizes the regulation of weight of loads on highways and twp. roads. Under certain climatic conditions excessive loads will seriously damage roads. A period of not more than 90 days in any one year is allowed for road load protec tion. BE IT RESOLVED THEREFORE, that because the spring of the year is a most critical time in the life of a road when frost is leaving the ground and excessive loads nauled over the roads at this time will cause great damage, the McHenry Twp. Board of Auditors acting with the advice of the Twp. Highway Com missioner may post the entire system of McHenry Twp. I congratulate, active register nurses on their dedication and suggest that parents interest their children in this most practical profession with its rapidly expanding respon sibilities and opportunities. Beware Of Con-Artists, Edison Warns One elderly woman lost her entire life savings. Others have been taken for hundreds of dollars. Victims of crooked land. dealers? Hardly. They were just unsuspecting homeowners who were bilked by phone in spectors, some of whom claimed to represent "the electric company", said Larry Strohman, district manager for Commonwealth Edison com pany. Con-artists, operating alone or in small groups, have vic timized hapless homeowners by making cursory wiring inspections and informing the homeowner that extensive work is needed to bring the home up to city standards (that'll be $300 in advance, please). Another popular tactic is to get the homeowner in an isolated part of the home, while an accomplice scours the home for valuables. Strohman explained that most visits to homes by Commonwealth Edison em ployees occur, only after specific requests from customers. Except for .very extreme emergencies, Edison workers do not make in spections inside residences. "That would be the job of a private contractor," he said. "In any case, always ask for proper identification from anyone claiming to be from the electric company," warned Strohman. "Every Com monwealth Edison employee has an identification card with his picture on it. If any of our customers are still in doubt after seeking proper iden tification, he should call the service office to double check." The correct Edison telephone number for this area is 815-385-1390.
