If any reader can dig into their memory and come up with any information to do with Lakemoor or Lily moor Fat would appreciate any calls regarding facts pertaining to farm's and who the owners were before the subdivisions were formed. Clubs or organizations and where their records are now especially if the club or organization no longer exists. Perhaps you can remember a nime or a place those records we\e put when the club dissolved, call Pat and help her gather the information she needs to build the history of our home town. She will appreciate any help along these lines. Pat 's phone number is 385-8707. If you know of any hap­ pening, you think may be part of the history, or of interest, call Pat and give that in­ formation to her. When you start thinking back it is sur­ prising of some of the things you come up with. LADIES LEAGUE The members have picked up where they left off early last winter. They held their first meeting of 1975 on Wednesday. March 19. A combined meeting was held. Members voted to keep their past officers in and there will i>e an installation procedure at the April meeting. At that t ime I will l ist the names and the office they hold. Following the business at hand, the ladies held" their social t ime. Today I will just l ist them lor those of you who are new out here or have forgotten them In Lakemoor there is the Fun Club. The counselors will meet w ith new students and their parents in small, informal groups, escorting them on tours of the c a m p u s , i n t e r p r e t i n g university life from the student 's point of view and answering questions about the educational experience at Drake. Pre-School Screening At Spring Grove Spring Grove school is holding registration for pre­ school children. The purpose is to identify these children who may have learning difficulties in their early years of school. For those who do have a need, the school may give recom­ mendations or even service before they begin kindergarten. After registration, some children will be invited to the school for a brief screening of their abili t ies. If children were born after Nov. 30. 1972, the parents may register them for the screening. They are invited to come to Spring Grove school to fil l out a form April 14 or April 15 during the hours of 8:30 and 3:30. Kindergarten registration for the 1975-76 school year will be held on these days also. KIWANIS NEWS WONDER LAKE CIA B The club received a letter from the Woodstock Children's home asking for additional help financially as its budget was cut. It was voted to send them S100. There also will be a check for $132 sent to an eye specialist to give eye training to five children at Harrison school. The parents of these children are unable to pay for this much needed service. Coming up soon is the nomination for officers for the coming year. Past presidents will have a meeting the first Monday in May to pick likely candidates for the offices. Chairman will be Bill Cristy, with Art Lau, Bob Myers and Gene Bach making the recommendations. A letter was received from Lt. Governor Dean Cunat, who reminds about the coming events, as the International convention at Atlanta, Ga., June 22 to 25, the I.I . district convention at the Sheraton Oakbrook, Aug. 15, 16 and 17, the divisional Little Miss Peanut runoff July 22, at the Legion hall in McHenry, and last but not least, Divisional Sorts day, July 16, Crystal Lake Country club. At the last meeting the guest speaker was Larry Fry, a student at McHenry high school who went to Holland as an exchange student. ELM ST. - McHENRY PHONE 385-1040 Rick Travis Class Senator, Bradley University All-school elections were held recently on the Bradley university campus and Kevin Tilton was elected Student Body president with 1,026 votes. More than 1,300 students voted in the all-day elections. Rick Travis was one of four elected to serve as sophomore class Senator. Rick is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R E. Travis of 4708 N. Sabath, McHenry. Tilton is a junior from Bartonville, 111., who is majoring in Liberal Arts and Science. He takes office from current Student Body President Phil Pritzker, a senior from Henderson, Ky. Schaffer Declines Invitation Of Secretary Of State State Sen. Jack Schaffer, R- Cary, has been invited- by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to attend a foreign policy conference in Washington, D.C. The conference will be held in the State department April 14 and 15. In inviting Schaffer, Kissinger explained he would like to share "our current thinking on major foreign policy issues and learn your views on these issues." In addition to an informal reception and the initial presentation, the conference will include working seminars concerning various parts of the world, arms limitation, NATO, the United Nations, economics and world politics. Schaffer said he was pleased and honored to have received the invitation, but would not be able to attend because the Ill inois Senate would be in session at that t ime. Service News Marine Captain Dennis R. Leisten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Leisten of 3304 W. Fairway drive, McHenry. has left the New River marine corps air station, Jacksonville, N.C., for a Mediterranean cruise with marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 264. •%& He is embarked aboard the helicopter transport carrier USS Iwo Jima, a unit of the U.S. Sixth fleet, and will help provide aircraft support for various training exercises during the cruise. Leisten is also scheduled to visit several Mediterranean countries.
