Letters, awards and trophies were presented to the Freshmen, Sophomore and Varsity squads. Each coach introduced his team and made brief comments on the teams' season. On the varsity level, head coach Ken Ludwig is shown with his starting five players. From left: Tom Stark, Marty Zeller, All- Conference; Steve Koerber, All-Conference and recipient of annual Coca-Cola Award; Kenne Ludwig, Best Free Throw Percentage (77 percent); and Steve Kasprzyk, Most Valuable Player. Coach Ludwig touched on the highlights of the season which included being unbeaten at home, presenting the coach with his 100th win (over Dundee 101-67) and having one of the best overall records for a team he has ever coached. WWWWVWWWVW Stock Car Racing Lake Geneva, Wis.--The first stock car racing in Wisconsin for the 1975 season is scheduled for Saturday night April 5 with three classes of cars in action. Racing on the quarter mile asphalt oval will be under new management throughout the 1975 season. Ray Toft, head of TAR Auto Racing, who in 1973 co-promoted the oval track racing, will return to operate on both Saturday and Sunday nights. By Dick Rabbitt Steve Kasprzyk, senior guard on Coach Ken Ludwig's 1974-75 Warrior basketball team, was named Most Valuable at the annual Awards Night held at West Campus last Tuesday evening. This is the first time that a Most Valuable award was given and according to Coach Ludwig, this award will be presented annually. The potluck dinner was held at West Campus and the cafeteria was full with players, coaches, cheerleaders, parents and friends. Coaches Gary Gray and Pat Wirtz of the freshmen squads spoke briefly, and presented freshmen numerals. Coach Gary Collins of the sophomores reviewed his season and presented awards. Then came Coach Ken Ludwig, who had nothing but praise for his "Fighting Warriors". He reviewed the season game by game like it happened only yesterday. He credited the success of the Warriors to hard work and teamwork, and said in his eight years at McHenry, this was the hardest working group of boys that he had. A mark of the team was its unselfishness, and this carried over last Tuesday night. The team with Tom Stark and Ted Hoening speaking in their behalf presented awards to Coaches Ludwig and Par- tenheimer, along with awards to Earl Cooper the team trainer, and popular George Cadotte the team bus driver. Trophies and charms were presented to the cheerleaders also by the team. The following six seniors when given their awards were given a standing ovation by the throng gathered in the cafeteria: Steve Kasprzyk, Kenne Ludwig, Tom Stark, Joe Meyer, Ron Stine, and Marty Zeller. Junior letter winners were: Steve Koerber, Tom Ludwig, Terry Reilly, Doug Hertel, Brian Lund, and Tony Christy. Other awards were presented to Joe Knaack, Dave Gerrard, Steve Brunow, Randy Blankenhorn, Billy Meyers, and Dan McCafferty. Managers Ted Hoening, Mike McDonough and Joe Karalowitz. Final Results Of McHeniy County Bowling Tourney Robert E. Jorgenson Wins "Best In State" Wisconsin Angler Award Tulsa, Okla.--Ringwood angeler Robert E. Jorgenson captured "Best in State" honors in Zebco's 1974 Fish America Awards program for the state of Wisconsin in the Walleye division with a 8 lb. 8 oz. lunker. Jorgensorf lives at 8808 Hickory Lane, Ringwood, Illinois. The national Fish America award will be an­ nounced later this month. The angler's winning entry was among some 1,000 qualifying entries in the 1974 Fish America program sponsored by Zebco Division Brunswick ,Corporation. The awards program gives recognition for qualifying catches in 50 categories in both fresh and salt water. This year's event included 220 participants ranging in age from 6 years to 18 years of age. Trophy presentation will be held Sunday, April 13, 1975, at Metro Bowl, Crystal Lake, starting at 1:30 p.m. At this time 16 trophy winners and four special awards will be presented. Division II swimming meet in two events. In the 200 yard back stroke Rick placed second three- tenths of a second behind the winner from California Irvine. Rick's time for the event was 2:00:348 and the local lad was just nosed out in the 100 yd. backstroke in the time of 54:84. The winning time was 54:83. Rick a junior at Western Illinois University, helped his team to a 7th place finish in the finals. Western took just 7 boys to the finals, held at Cleveland State University at Cleveland, Ohio. - California Northridge won the meet, followed by California Irvine, and Eastern Illinois placed third in the meet. In order to compete in the finals, qualifying times were set up throughout the country during the season. In order to compete, one must have meet the times » set up by the N.C.A.A. To give you an example of qualifying times, in any of the events one second separated the 27 finalists. In the 50 yd. freestyle five- tenths of a second separated the winner from sixth place, and in the 100 yd. freestyle a snap of the finger separated the first five places.
