April 4,1975) Clewis Children Earn Awards At Swimming Meet Laura and John Clewis swam in the novice cham­ pionship meet held in Evanston at the high school March 9. There were twenty-five teams entered in the meet. Laura, age . 6, who swam in the 8 year old and younger group won a bronze medal third in 25 yard free style and a bronze medal in the 25 yard back stroke. She also placed ninth in the 50 yard free style out of a group cf forty-three. John age 9 swims in the 9 and 10 year old group won a gold medal (first )# for the 100 yard individual medley. (25 yards butterfly, 25 yard back stroke, 25 yard breast stroke, and 25 yard free style). He also won a seventh place ribbon in 50 yard free where 4 tenths of a second separated seventh from first. He won a sixth place ribbon in 50 yard breast stroke. Laura and John swim for Camp Duncan in Volo. Swimming trophies were awarded to all in recognition of a fine and out­ standing season. Laura Clewis also received her intermediate card and her fish card in swimming and in working on swimmers card and flying fish card. John works as a swimmers aide at*-West Campus on Saturday mornings. BIRTHDAYS John Clewis celebrated his tenth birthday on March 15. Many more happy birthdays to you. John!! EASTER EGG HUNT . "BIG SUCCESS" March 29, Saturday af­ ternoon, Eastwood Manor had an Easter Egg Hunt up at Hilltop school",Even with the weather being very cold and windy there was a grand total of fifty children who took place in the hunt, a really great turnout. There were three different age groups which were as follows: One-4, Michael Marach, Joey Bellak, Jennifer Klatt, Mary Walsh, Kelly Ann SmitJj, Jerry Chuprinskas, Cathy Chuprinskas, Steve Zank, and Meggan Miller. The second age group was from 5-7: Barbie Berent, Dawn Melone, Michelle Melone, Tony Melone, Jerry Bellak, Jimmy Bellak, Darrin Klatt, Harry Mueller, Michael Walsh, Richy Hoffman, Jason Hoffmann, Michelle Rehberg, Michelle Smith, Michelle McLean. Monty McLean, David Howard, Rodney Hunt, John Sutchek, Malissa Mevick, Chad Miller, Glen Wijas, Eric Gramer, Deiter Gramer and Steffany Kann were all in the second age group. In the 8 year old and higher group: Michael Smith, Pete Gerrard, Kurt Rehburg, Scott Rehburg, Todd Rehburg, V Wendi Howard. Donna Baron. Michele Rehburg. Michele Smith. Matt Suchuck, Craig Norquist. Merle Norquist. Frank Norquist. Roland Hunt. Bobby Newman, and Larry Berent. all participated in the Easter Egg Hunt. Everything went pretty much according to schedule. -- for the most part everyone enjoyed themselves, regardless of weather conditions. There was one first and second place winners from each age group, who received special prizes, due to weather condition, etc., we were unable to get their names down. All the children who were in the Easter Egg Hunt received a package of Easter candy, and a bottle of bubbles, and all were happy!!! So you see everyone was a winner!! A very Happy Easter to all Eastwood Manor residents, as well as a Happy Passover!! Mrs. Charlene Chuprinskas, Mrs. McLean, Mrs. Bob Gramer, and Mrs. Berent were PAGE 17 - PLAIN DEALER-FRIDAY, APRIL 4, 1975 responsible for coloring Easter Eggs. Last, but not least. Debbie Hoffmann, Torn Melone and Pat Marack. ran the Easter Egg Hunt, and really did a terrific job. FIRST BIRTHDAY A year ago this past April 1. a local family. The Farringtons. were fooled, when Mother Nature made a visit to them. Yes. a baby girl. April Joy, was l>orn to Carolyn and Bob and sister Kimberly Ann. on April Fools Day. April Joy was a year old on the first, but won't celebrate her birthday till April 5. Her Godparents. Mr and Mrs. Lawrence Chumura (Carolyn's Godmother too) and their family, and April's Grandparents. Grandma and Grandpa Schulz will help celebrate her "Big Day.' Also attending will be her little friends, Joey and Cindy Hamel. and Brian and Brady Swearingen. (and their mommies and daddies too).
